Friends for a Better Whittier Friends for a Better Whittier is a nonprofit community group that advocates for high quality development in Whittier's Center District.

Friends for a Better Whittier stemmed from the 'No More Motels in Whittier' campaign. Local residents in the Center District started the nonprofit organization with the intention of having more input from residents on development in Whittier. Friends for a Better Whittier specifically advocates for high quality development in Center District, as identified in the Whittier Boulevard Specific Plan.

Its current project is to restrict motel development in the area and facilitate a discussion between city officials, motel owners, and homeowners on motel-related issues. We believe the safety of our neighborhoods is a community effort that relies on proactive homeowners and responsible business owners. Our greater objective is to become a liaison between the city and the community, and together fight for the safety and integrity of Whittier.

Let's get involved!

Whittier Community: Please join us this Thursday, January 11th at 1:00 PM as we launch a new ballot initiative with the goal of fixing the loopholes and errors found in AB109 and Propositions 47 & 57. We must keep our community safe. It will take a unified effort to get this initiative on the November 2018 ballot. The 1:00 PM press conference will be held at Whittier City Hall / Police Memorial. Thank you.
