We are the largest non-profit used bookstore in Southern California. 100% all-volunteer run. We need your book, record, cd and DVD donations.

We are an ALL Volunteer bookstore that donates proceeds to the Whittier Public Library. Thank you for your support.

The volunteers of the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore work hard to keep the bookstore organized and keep new old items on the shelves. Here, Volunteer Jocelyn was helping Volunteer Bruce reorganize the foreign languages shelf, while Volunteer Ronnie was sneaking around taking pictures. Tomorrow, the volunteers will gallantly take on the crowds as members pour into the store for last Thursday BOGO day.

And for folks wondering what will happen to the November last Thursday since it falls on Thanksgiving, we will move member BOGO day to the following Saturday.

The Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore now has the Cambridge Ancient History, minus the two final volumes, and a complete the Cambridge Medieval History. We are willing to sell individual volumes, but would prefer to sell each set as a set. We would be willing to give discounts on the sets

The Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore continues to receive a very generous donation of an entire library of books on religion. This complete 12 volume set of The Expositor's Bible Commentary is just one of the many sets we've received in this donation. And if you're just looking for individual volumes from this set, we have some them available as single volumes to sell.

Come visit the FotWPL Bookstore at 6703 Comstock Avenue in Uptown Whittier to see our entire collection of books, vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, audio books, etc. that we have for sale. All sales benefit the Whittier Public Library.

The newest encyclopedic acquisition at the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore is a full Encyclopedia Brittanica and a full Brittanica Junior from 1960. [We also have several decades of the Brittanica Book of the Year, but we usually recycle those books, so if someone wanted to purchase those along with the encyclopedias, we'd need to see you at 10am on Tuesday October 20th...severe lack of storage space and all.]

Reasons you might want an encyclopedia in the days of the interwebs: They make great decoration for built in bookshelves, either at your own abode or one you're staging to sell. They would keep your children off the internet and prepare them for a reduction in computer use in schools in the future. You're writing a historical novel and you want to get your details correct. And - stop reading if you are sensitive about what happens to books - they could be repainted as set pieces in a play, the could provide lots of material for art projects, and you could make a lot of money on eBay after razor blading the plates and maps out of the volumes.

Things to keep in mind: the Fall BOGO Sale at the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore is coming up on November 13, 14 and 15 - watch the calendar for pre-sale closures. Currently, the FotWPL Bookstore is receiving the donation of an entire religion library, six banker boxes at a time, so if you are interested in books on Christisnity, keep your eye on the religion shelves.

As part of a larger religious library that is in the process of being donated to the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore, we have the 1980 edition of Zondervan's The Book of Life, with all 23 encyclopedic volumes plus a copy of the New International Version of The Holy Bible as volume 24. Given the volume of material coming in to the bookstore, this set will be given the "where the heck do I put it" discount.

The Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore has moved the single subject study guides from the Education shelves to several shelves around the corner underneath the National Geographics.

If you are a fan of U.S. Presidential history and you like primary documents, this set of Messages and Papers of the Presidents, 1789-1897 plus the 1906 Supplement for Theodore Roosevelt is for you.

As with all things Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore, some of the stuff that came in this morning with this set has already gone back out the door, so if you want this or anything else you've seen at the bookstore, get it before it's gone.

The bookstore is located at 6703 Comstock Avenue in Uptown Whittier and is open from 10am to 2:30pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

If you are a fan of Reminisce magazine, the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore now has 62 back issues for folks to purchase at 25 cents a piece.

We'll be open until 2:30pm today and we're still located in the old bus station at the corner of Comstock and Bailey in Uptown Whittier
