The informal count says that this was the biggest three day sale in the history of the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore. Thank you to all the Whittier-area folks who came by to shop.

The bookstore will be closed on Tuesday May 19 and eill reopen for both sales and donations on Thursday May 21.

Day 3/Last Day of the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore May [PARKING LOT BOGO] Sale: If you're coming into Uptown Whittier for church, brunch, or a Sunday stroll, stop by 6703 Comstock Avenue for the last day of the big May Sale.

Parking will be scarce in the bookstore parking lot, so think about parking on the street, either on Bailey or Comstock - two hour parking, or park in the Uptown Parking Structure Comstock down the street.

We'll be closing at 3pm today and we'll be open when the first customer comes, even though it's way early. See you soon.

Day 2 of the May Sale: the early crew at the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore have the easy ups up. The tables come next, then the crates of books and boxes of vinyl.

We're slated to open at 10am, but watch this space for an earlier opening. You'll find us at the old bus station in Uptown Whittier at 6703 Comstock Avenue. Parking will be scarce in the parking lot, so you may have to park on Bailey or Comstock - two hours limit, or use the Uptown Parking Structure Comstock down the street. See you soon!

May Sale - Day 1: Just like the circus setting up their tents, the hardy volunteers of the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore set up the easy ups for another parking lot sale.

BOGO = buy one, get one free. If you buy a $20 book - you're a big spender, you can have any other book that's valued at twenty dollars or less for free. BOGO shopping rule #1: your best value comes from pairing up items of equal value.

We're located at 6703 Comstock Avenue in Uptown Whittier. Parking in the bookstore lot will be limited. Parking on Bailey Street is 2 hour parking and is monitored by a private firm hired by the City of Whittier. The Uptown Parking Structure Comstock is located on the same block of Comstock as the bookstore on the other side of the street.

We may open soon so feel free to come over and browse!

It's 5:40pm on Thursday May 14, 2026 at the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore. I priced my last book at 5:30. Two volunteers are still in the store preparing it for the sale beginning tomorrow morning.

The May [PARKING LOT BOGO] SALE starts Friday morning at 10am. Watch this space for updates on tomorrow mornings set up for a hint of when we'll be ready to go - probably before 10 😉.

Since we were closed today for pre-sale clean up and organization, the Friends of the Whittier Public Library Bookstore would like you to have a glimpse of one of the things that got cleaned up and organized.

The language shelf contains all foreign language books, except for Spanish language reading - around the corner - and children's foreign language- in the Children's section.

The shelf has been reorganized with the knowledge that it's popularity will have it disorganized by the end of this weekend's PARKING LOT BOGO SALE.

Come to the bookstore on Friday morning at 10am to see what else we have in store for you! 6703 Comstock Avenue in Uptown Whittier in the old bus station as always.
