For many families, a trip to the movie theater is a simple night out.
For many autism families, it’s anything but simple.
Before we even leave the house, we’re thinking about things most people never have to consider:
🎬 Will the sound be too loud?
💡 Will the lights be overwhelming?
🍿 Will my child be able to sit through the movie?
👀 How will other people react if they make noises, stim, or need to move around?
🚪 What happens if we need to leave halfway through?
Many autistic children experience the world differently. What feels like a fun, relaxing activity for others can become a stressful and exhausting experience for both the child and their family.
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the movie itself—it’s the fear of judgment. The stares. The whispers. The feeling that your family doesn’t quite fit into spaces that everyone should be able to enjoy.
That’s why sensory-friendly movie experiences matter. That’s why kindness matters. And that’s why inclusion matters.
Every child deserves the chance to enjoy the magic of the movies, and every family deserves to feel welcome while doing so.
We are hoping this experience does just that. Each autistic child signed up has a behavioral tech with them to help teach the skills of attending the movie! Hopefully their experience helps them overcome some obstacles they may encounter.💙
The group we have going is so excited! Please reach out! Your $30 donation covers admission, popcorn, candy, a drink, and a Toy Story toy for a child with autism!
