Willing and Obedient

Isaiah 1:19, NIV
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.

It’s one thing to be obedient to what God says, that’s good. But if you really want to experience God’s best, you need to be more than obedient; you have to be willing. You have to do it with the right attitude—not out of obligation where you have to, but with an attitude of gratitude.

It’s one thing to give because you have to. It’s another thing to give because you want to. It’s one thing to go to work to pick up a paycheck. It’s another thing to go to work to be a blessing to somebody else. It’s one thing to stay married to your spouse because it’s the right thing to do. People may look down on you if you don’t. But it’s another thing to stay married to your spouse, to treat him or her with respect, to honor and help your partner reach a higher level. That’s being willing and obedient. When you do the right thing with the right motives, there’s no limit to what God will do in your life.

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus was willing to come to earth as a man and then to be obedient to the point of death. Thank You for calling me to have the right spirit, to obey and serve with a grateful attitude. Help me to do what is right with the right motives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Surely

Psalm 5:12, NIV
Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

David could have just said, “Lord, you will bless the righteous.” But he added the word “surely.” He was saying, “I’m absolutely convinced that You will bless me. I’m fully persuaded that what You promised is on the way.” You need to have some “surely ”s. “Surely, I’ll get well. Surely, I’ll pay my house off. Surely, I’ll meet the right person. Surely, this problem is turning around. Surely, new doors are opening. Surely, I’ll come through this crisis better than I was before.” It’s not, “Maybe…there’s a good chance, if the medicine works, if I get the promotion, or if these people like me.” No, you need to add the surely; you have to be convinced.

If you have the “if’s, you’re going to talk yourself out of it. “Surely” means giving up is not an option, not believing is not something you even consider. Your face is set. You’re not moved by negative reports, not discouraged by how impossible it looks, not complaining about how long it’s taking. You know what God promised is on the way.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have put Your favor upon me and that it surrounds me as with a shield at all times. Thank You that You are surely going to bless me. I am fully persuaded that what You promised is on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

It’s in the Obedience

John 2:9, NIV
The master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Many of the miracles Jesus performed required an act of obedience. When He turned water into wine, He told the staff at the wedding to fill up the large stone pots with water, which didn’t make sense. They could have said, “Jesus, we need wine, not water. What good is this going to do?” Without them filling the waterpots, without their obedience, there wouldn’t have been a miracle.

Is God asking you to step out in faith into a brand-new venture, to forgive someone who did you wrong, or to pray for others who need healing when you’re not feeling well? Is He asking you to fill pots with water when you need wine? It’s not so much what you’re doing; it’s the obedience. God sees your obedience. He sees you believing and stretching forward when you could be discouraged. When you prove to God that you’re going to do the right thing even when it’s hard, even when it doesn’t make sense, you’re going to see God do awesome things in your life.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a miracle-working God. Thank You for calling me to be faithful and obedient when things aren’t changing and when I don’t understand. I believe that the wine is coming, that I am going to see You do something awesome. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Prosper Where You’re Planted

Jeremiah 29:11, NIV
For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Today’s Scripture was spoken right after the Israelites had been taken from Jerusalem as captives and settled in Babylon as exiles, unable to go home. Their whole world was turned upside down in disappointment. I’m sure they were praying for a deliverance, but God said they were going to be there for seventy years. God didn’t say, “I’m going to get you out of Babylon and back to Jerusalem so I can prosper you.” He said, “I’m going to prosper you in captivity, in disappointment, while you’re dealing with loss. But you have to take steps of faith—build houses, plant crops, marry, pursue new goals, look for opportunities. I have plans to prosper you in your difficulty.”

Perhaps you’re facing a disappointment, a breakup, a big setback. You feel like you’re in exile and want to give up. No, get your passion back. God has plans to prosper you despite what’s going on around you. Keep believing, keep being your best, and God will take you to new levels in the midst of that challenge.

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your plans for my life, plans that are full of hope and an abundant future, are not dependent upon the situations around me. Thank You that You can prosper me through every difficulty. I believe that You are the one who is taking me to my destiny. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Dream Big

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”

‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Do you ever feel like you’ve “lost your fire or enthusiasm?” We all have times when we feel overwhelmed by the pressures of life, but that’s when we need to stir up what God has placed on the inside of us. Remember, there are no disadvantages with our God. You have everything you need to succeed. No weapon formed against you is ever going to prosper; you just have to stir up the gift inside. How do you stir it up? By speaking God’s truth and meditating on His word.
Start right now by simply declaring today, “I am going to see God’s favor in a greater way. New doors are going to begin to open for me. Supernatural opportunities are coming my way. God is setting up divine connections for me. I’m always at the right place at the right time. I am going to overcome every obstacle and defeat every enemy. I’m going to see every dream, every desire that God has placed in my heart come to pass in Jesus’ name!”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the dreams, desires and gifts You've placed on the inside of me. I choose to stir up those gifts and declare what You say about me. Have Your way in my heart today in Jesus' name. Amen!
