PUBLIC NOTICE - WHITNEY AREA SCHEDULED TXNP POWER OUTAGE - UPDATED
Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) notified the City of Whitney that a planned overnight power outage is scheduled from midnight on Tuesday, November 18 (TONIGHT), through 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19. Currently, the weather is predicted to be in the low 70’s to high 60’s with no severe weather potential DURING the outage. Additionally, rain chances look to be holding off until approximately 7am, and that is just when the chances begin to increase, real rain chances increase Wednesday evening and are best for Thursday.
This outage is predicted to have possible impacts on the entire City of Whitney, it may also impact County residents along State Highway 22 from Whitney to the DAM. Additionally, it may also impact County residents in the areas South of Whitney, along FM 933 to FM 1534. Please keep in mind, this is only for Texas-New Mexico Power Customers!
We have also spoken with representatives from HILCO Water and Hill County Water. Both companies have advised this could also impact water pressure and water availability during the outage period.
Please plan accordingly for this event. While Texas-New Mexico Power has assured us they will do everything in their power to limit the impact of the outage, it is always best to plan for the worst! Per TNMP, this outage is necessary to continue their work on improving the Whitney Sub-Station. Emergency Notification will be going out to residents in the expected impacted areas this afternoon. No additional messages will be made pertaining to this event unless something changes. In the comments will be a picture of the estimated areas that may be impacted based on information given by TXNP.
