At 4:14 this afternoon, Station 61 was dispatched to a reported garage fire at 337 Sapbush Rd with automatic mutual aid from Station 44 (Chenango Forks Fire) and Smithville Fire. Chief 44 Adam (Chenango Forks) arrived on the scene within minutes and reported heavy fire conditions and requested a 2nd alarm, bringing numerous different departments to the scene. Pumper Tanker 61 and Chief 61 arrived on scene moments later and began fire suppression operations, followed by numerous mutual aid apparatus arriving on scene and going to work. During the initial fire attack, a second garage caught fire but was extinguished before it could spread throughout the structure.

Crews remained on scene fighting the fire and performing overhaul for approximately 4 1/2 hours. Thankfully, the home owner had a mini excavator that he allowed crews to use to pull the metal siding off the structure to help extinguish hot spots. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

We would like to thank everyone on the scene who helped on this call.

Triangle Fire responded with Pumper Tanker 61, Chief 61, Squad 61, and Utility 61.

Pumper Tanker 61 was requested to stand by at Station 44 (Chenango Forks) while they operated at a 2nd alarm house fire. Once at Station 44, PT61 was requested to establish a water supply. After standing by filling tankers for approximately 2 hours, PT 61 was released by Command 44.

It is always a pleasure to help out our neighbors when we can!

Triangle Fire was dispatched at 5:38 this evening for reports of a house fire with flames visible. Chief 61 arrived on the scene to locate an active fire on the under side of the rear porch, along with a few pieces of wood on the ground to be on fire as well. Using an extinguisher and a garden hose, the bulk of the fire was knocked down. Engine 61 and Pumper Tanker 61 then arrived on the scene and stretched a hand line, and extinguished the remaining hot spots. Pumper Tanker 24 and Squad 24 (Whitney Point Fire) then arrived on the scene and checked inside the residence for any extension. The fire was contained to the rear porch of the residence. The cause of the fire is still under investigation

Triangle Fire was assisted on the scene by Whitney Point Fire, Broome County Fire Investigation Team, and New York State Police.

Tonight, we had our annual company banquet to celebrate everything through 2024. We would like to thank all of our members, associate members, auxiliary, mutual aid departments, and other fire department personnel from the county for showing up and celebrating with us!

We would also like to thank Riverview Diner for decorating and putting on a phenomenal dinner for all of us! To say that the food was great would be an understatement.

This year, Chief Hewett presented 2 awards.

"Firefighter of the Year" went to Firefighter David Samson for his exceptional service and dedication to Triangle Fire last year, along with being a key asset in making a few critical calls run smoothly last year. Dave has a very promising future here at Triangle Fire, and we are beyond grateful to call him one of our members.

This year, Chief Hewett decided to do an "Officer of the Year award." This award was presented to Assistant Chief Christopher Ryan for his exceptional leadership throughout 2024. Asst. Chief Ryan played a key part in the progression of Triangle Fire last year and consistently pushed every member to be the best firefighter they could be.

Once again, thank you, everyone, for coming to our banquet, and we look forward to another progressive, successful year here at Triangle Fire.
