Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling, disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Millions of people are affected by MS; more than 400,000 Americans, over 18,000 who live right here in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, face the challenges of living with its unpredictable symptoms,
which range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Walk MS is a day that brings friends, families, and coworkers together make a powerful statement and a real difference. When they found out Jen has MS in 1997, Jen and David Cook wanted to do something to fight the disease threatening to destroy their lives. Walk MS was the perfect opportunity to join with their family and friends, and do just that: They've been "Fighting MS...One Step at a Time" ever since! JEN'S TEAM has proudly participated in 19 great Walk MS Plymouth events, and has raised over $250,000 to help the National MS Society fund research, advocate for change, and help people with MS.
