I find the topic of sleep paralysis to be truly fascinating. Logically, it does make sense how our brains can warp dream and reality when we are brought back to the waking world prematurely. However, the issue I have with this rational explanation is the common images seen during sleep paralysis. The Old Hag is commonly describe by people experiencing sleep paralysis. Why do our brains place a sinister old woman in the room with us, sometimes sitting on the chest of the victim, peering menacingly at them, at such a high rate of occurrence?
If you believe in the paranormal you might not be surprised if you hear stories of deceased loved ones appearing during the night, huge explosions heard just as someone is drifting off with no obvious cause, and other peculiar occurrences.
