🚨Strike Action🚨

Wingstop employees of the Tunnel Road store in Asheville, North Carolina, announced a 3-day strike that started on August 28th. The crucial issues are unfair treatment of employees of specific demographics, the physical environment, and an unbalanced work schedule.

The striking employees have expressed that there have been racial slurs and derogatory comments made to employees. There has been maltreatment of people of color and ethnicity. The maltreatment has also included women and people with disabilities.

Another alarming report is the physical environment. Employees are working in the store with a working central air unit; however, the management is allowing the physical environment to reach unsafe temperatures.

An additional key issue is the drastic change of hours from pay period to pay period. One of the striking employees reported going from working 6 days a week to 4 hours over a two-week span.

9% raise for CEO as company refuses to negotiate 👀

Two different Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) unions are bargaining with Mass General Brigham (MGB).

These MNA unions include 4,500 skilled employees who are being offered no cost of living adjustments meanwhile the CEO at the top grosses 176,538 per week.

The Brigham MNA has been informed by MGB, that negotiations have reached a “practical impasse.”

While the MNA Home Care clinicians have been seeking reasonable caseloads for the safety of patients and clinicians. There is a need for competitive wages because of complexities of home care as well as productivity standards that are clear and transparent.

Reasonable requests while MGB blatantly ignores the MNA unions at the bargaining table.

Yesterday Dolly Parton passed. She was an inspiration to many working families through her music. She had many hits but one in particular championed woman in the workplace which is 9 to 5. When we think about labor it’s more than just clocking in and clocking out it’s about the culture of our society. Dolly inspired a generation of working people and most of all working women.

Tampa International Airport (TPA) choosing to stick with what has worked and opts out of TSA Gold+ pilot program.

This program looks great when you have an administration intentionally shutting down government and/or parts of government to not pay workers. That is the privatization playbook. Discredit, Underfund (intentionally not paying employees), manufacture outrage (Long lines due to government shutdown) ,deregulation (Attempting to eliminate CBA for AFGE), subsidize private alternatives (TSA Gold+).

TPA was offered the Gold+ option considered it and stuck with the federal employees that keep the United States public safe.
