9/11 MEMORIAL CEREMONY | 25 YEARS OF REMEMBRANCE

The City of Whiting invites our community to join us on Friday, September 11th, as we gather to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognize the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

📍 Whiting City Hall – Front Stairs
🕘 Ceremony begins promptly at 8:55 AM

The ceremony will begin with the ringing of church bells throughout Whiting, followed by a performance by the Whiting High School Band. The National Anthem will be sung as we raise the American flag, followed by a blessing and brief remarks from Mayor Steve Spebar.

We invite our entire community to join us as we come together in remembrance, reflection, and unity.

For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be live streamed and recorded so it can be viewed at a later time.

With extreme heat in the forecast, cooling centers are available in North Township to provide a safe, air-conditioned place to cool down.

Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit prolonged outdoor activity, and visit one of the cooling centers listed below if needed.

Please share this information with family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who may be vulnerable to the heat.

USW Local 7-1 will be participating in the Whiting 4th of July Parade!

Members and families are invited to march with us on Saturday, July 4th. The parade starts at 10:00 AM, and we’ll have a cookout at the Union Hall immediately after the parade.

Please RSVP by Wednesday, July 1st by calling the Union Hall at (219) 659-1181 or signing up at the hall.
