walnuts and Squirrels here at the Fowler farm.Amd the are huge. Anyone want some?

This week from the Life of SKRAT !!

Bill Fischer of North Dakota got a surprise when he looked into his Chevy avalanche to find out a red squirrel had been a very very very busy squirrel for this winter and many winters to come .
He found 42 gallons of walnuts stashed under the hood , inside panels , and in places only a squirrel could get to.
He had to dismantle the front end And some are completely inaccessible like the frame rails.
After going full Ice Age on the Chevy avalanche Bill discovered over 150 pounds of walnuts .

Hi, folks. Sorry you haven't heard from us for a while. Bruce had to decide on the future of the non-profit. Due to a series of circumstances, the pandemic, the bad weather and some changes in his energy and stamina, Bruce has decided to dissolve the non-profit. He still has the farm, welcomes friends and visitors, but is focused on getting repairs to his house roof , welcoming a new batch of piglets any time now, and keeping his smaller garden etc. going.
Over the ten years we transitioned at least six homeless or challenged veterans to security, fed dozens of veterans and families with prime Jersey beef, pork, and honey during the pandemic and helped the local food shelf keep operating as well.
We never managed to get our training mission operating smoothly due to many logistical difficulties, but it wasn't for lack of trying.
What we did learn was there are at least 40 veteran assistance programs in Vermont many of whom do not even know each other and that does not count many of The American Legion and VFW posts and their Auxiliaries hidden away in remote corners of our brave little state. Check them out.

When I figure it out, I will get this account shut down and then you can stay in contact with Bruce through his own page.

I Heard from Family , My long time friend in Cows and Farming , Kendall Cook Has passed .....He was suffering ,,,But Got time to live here at Fowlers ,a While back...He had Called from Rehab months ago,,,Wanted to Know if we had room for my old GI Friend ...I am so glad he did...We lived each Day ,,,,,Steak and Eggs for breakfast...

Hi, everyone! Fowlers Ranch is still moving forward and making a difference! In the last two months we have been able to help a veteran who lost his home and also had surgery come here. He was able to get rest and physical therapy to become sufficiently independent that his family was able to receive him in their home to live!

Giving Tuesday is coming up next week. Please consider us on your list of charities to support and let your friends know we are here to help veterans in crisis get back on their feet.

Other update: The summer has been a challenge: rain and hail that destroyed all our crops and we didn't have a first cut of hay until mid-August. We have gotten electricity to the woodshop and are beginning restoration of the cupola for the historic schoolhouse across the road as time permits. It is a fun project.
