Meeting change announcement!

The Horton Lions Club is changing their normal meeting time and place. Our next meeting will be September 13 at 5:30 PM at the City Hall (205 E 8th St, Horton, KS 66439).

We hope to see everyone there, member or not. Come see what we are all about. We will also have a special guest at this meeting!

Thank you Horton for coming out to support our club at the Bike Rally! We had a blast working on bikes and seeing all the kids having such a great time! We had approximately 20 kids with bikes come through for everything from putting air in tires or oiling a chain to complicated repairs and having parts replaced! We also want to again thank Mr. Larry Cook with Bikes 4 Kids (based in Excelsior Springs) for providing expert repair assistance and donating so much time, parts and accessories, and even a new bike which was given away. Also, thank you to Horton Police Department and Officer Entrikin for providing basic bike safety information to all the kids that came through! We look forward to being able to make this an annual event.

We do still have a busy summer ahead but are working to put some more exciting things together! Stay tuned.

A more comprehensive post was promised and here it is!

Please join us at the Horton Elementary School tomorrow between 11 AM and 1 PM for our bike rally! We have prizes (see comments), a couple of bikes to giveaway, the Horton Police Department will be providing bike safety education and we have experts helping to ensure the kids’ bikes are safe and ready for riding!

It’s looking like a gorgeous (some of you might say slightly chilly but I’ll say gorgeous) day is in store so we should have a TERRIFIC event and cannot wait to see everyone there!

Thank you to Walmart for supporting local nonprofits! With their generous donation, we will be adding a few smaller giveaways to the bike rally this Saturday! I’ll do a more comprehensive post later but wanted to give a shoutout to Walmart for making our event even a little better than it was!

Also many thanks to the City Of Horton Police Department for providing bike safety education!

We love the support for our club and the service we strive to provide. We look forward to seeing everyone Saturday.

Horton Lions Club will be assisting with hauling large items with our friends from the South Brown County Community Foundation! Let us know if you need help.

This weekend! We are looking forward to so many of our Horton residents getting out to brighten their corners! Special thanks to our Neighborhood Leaders who volunteered their time to visit with their neighbors and SBCCF to help organize cleanups in their areas! Special thanks to Mayor Stirton and the Lions Club for helping with hauling away unwanted items.

We are also thrilled for those student volunteers that will be helping tomorrow!
