The Auto Indiana exhibit, on loan from the Indiana Historical Society, is a fascinating traveling exhibit that showcases the people, innovations, and vehicles that helped put Indiana on the road to success. This special exhibit is only here for a limited time, so don't miss your chance to see it!

History Center Closing Early Today.

Well, we were here waiting for you, but the first to arrive was that incredible storm!

Trees are down throughout the neighborhood and it is a little risky to be out there. Our lights are flickering and we keep losing our video displays, so Pop says to close up early. Hope to see you when the weather improves.

If you are out and about - Be careful!

Did you know that nearly a century ago Whiting's young beachgoers had a couple of unforgettable ways to plunge into Lake Michigan:

Giant slide: Riders could splash straight into the lake.

Offshore swings: People could soar out over the water and drop in by letting go of the chains.

The excitement level was the 1930s equivalent of today’s Whoa Zone.

We are making some exhibit changes! But that means the History Center of Whiting-Robertsdale will be CLOSED on Saturday, June 6th. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

We will reopen on Wednesday, June 10th and hope that you will come and see us then.

We can't wait to see everyone today at noon for the History Lovers Meeting!

Please note that construction is currently taking place in Calumet College's parking lot. Visitor parking will still be available in the front lot, and additional parking can be found along New York Avenue and at the Clark House lot.

The South entrance near College Boulevard will remain open during construction. An accessibility ramp will also be available near that entrance to assist guests with mobility needs, with access through the dock entrance.
