And Then There Were 21.
Yesterday, another 135 beagles were released from Ridglan Farms, with many of them heading to our wonderful friends at Big Dog Ranch Rescue. One of our Board members was on the ground assisting with the release process, helping ensure these dogs received proper veterinary assessments before beginning their journeys across the country to BDRR headquarters.
During those evaluations, one senior female beagle, estimated to be 8-10 years old, was found to be lethargic, running a fever, and in need of immediate medical attention. Fluids were administered right away, but she still wasn't improving. Thanks to the quick thinking and compassion of those involved, the decision was made that she should not endure a long transport to Florida. Instead, Albert's Dog Lounge Rescue was asked if we could step in.
Of course, we said yes.
She arrived in our care immediately and was seen by a veterinarian right away. At this point, she is dealing with dehydration, lethargy, diarrhea, and the overwhelming need to simply decompress after everything she has endured. She will need to be spayed, undergo further diagnostics, and receive treatment for several medical concerns that have gone unaddressed.
Like every dog who comes through our doors, we made her a promise: she will get everything she needs, whether bloodwork, diagnostics, follow-up treatments, holistic care - whatever it takes.
Because her life starts today.
Please help us welcome Primrose, affectionately known as Prim, to Albert's Dog Lounge Rescue. She is our 21st beagle, and we know her final chapter is going to be her very best chapter. A chapter filled with comfort, love, safety, and a lifetime of firsts.
As always, providing this level of care comes at a significant cost. These beagles are needing far more than routine vaccines and spay/neuter surgeries. We are treating dental disease, removing mammary masses, investigating seizures, addressing chronic medical conditions, improving nutrition, and helping these dogs recover from years of missing so much that other dogs get the opportunity to have as part of "normal" lives.
We are grateful for the opportunity to help them, but we cannot do it without you.

While the beagles have rightfully captured a lot of attention, they are not the only dogs depending on us. The seniors and special needs dogs already in our program still need ongoing medical care, medications, specialty diets, and all the support that allows them to thrive.
And the need doesn't stop there. Just yesterday, we also committed to helping a small poodle with a broken pelvis. There are many other senior and special needs dogs waiting for their chance to enter our program, and we never want to have to say no simply because funds aren't available.
Your support helps not only Prim and the other beagles, but every dog currently in our care and those still waiting for a safe place to land.
Thank you for helping us continue to say "yes" when it matters most. ❤️
