American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5470 are postponing today’s Veteran Cookout due to the rainy weather.

Our goal is to bring together veterans from campus and throughout the community, and we want to give everyone the best opportunity to connect.

We’re tentatively rescheduling for Tuesday, October 20th. If you know any veterans in the area, please spread the word and encourage them to join us next week for some good food and conversation!

All area veterans, active-duty and reserve service members, and their families or a friend will be welcome!

As the school year gets underway, we're bringing veterans together for an afternoon of good food, conversation, and community.

Whether you're a UW–Whitewater student veteran, a longtime member of the military community, or simply looking to connect with fellow veterans in the area, we hope you'll join us for our Veterans Community Cookout!

We'll have burgers, brats, yard games, and plenty of opportunities to meet other veterans and local organizations, including our friends from the VFW.

All area veterans and their families are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there!

🏈Get ready to JUMP AROUND! The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs is once again distributing free tickets to this year's Wisconsin Badgers 'Salute to Veterans' football game.

Join other veterans and us watch the Badgers take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, November 7. Game time is TBD. It’s also a great opportunity to tour the recently opened Camp Randall Veterans Memorial Plaza, an incredible addition to the Camp Randall Memorial Park next door. The plaza is open to the public during and after the game.

⭐HOW TO REGISTER: With a limited number of free tickets available, veterans and service members can register for the chance to receive up to two tickets online at WisVetsSports.com through Monday, September 14, at 5:00 p.m. Lottery winners will be notified by Friday, September 26.

🇺🇸 Post 173 is grateful for the incredible volunteers who help make Memorial Day weekend possible.

From the 4-H members, Girl Scouts, VFW Post 5470, Whitewater, WI brothers and sisters, and community volunteers who helped cover Hillside Cemetery in flags for our veterans, to the Legionnaires preparing the old armory for tomorrow’s ceremony, we truly could not do it without all of you.

We are proud to be part of a community that continues to show such care and respect for those who served. Thank you for continuing the traditions that make Whitewater special. ❤️

We hope to see you tomorrow for the Memorial Day Parade and armory program, where we will welcome guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Jonathan Roe.
