A Successful 2026 Make a Difference Day with Whitewater Creek Coalition et al.
May 1, 2026
Whitewater Creek Coalition (WWCC) began informally in 2023, when a few neighbors gathered
to pick up trash along Whitewater Creek. They began weaving a vision of restoring the Creek
through clean-up efforts and other projects...“Could they do it?” they wondered.
From those humble origins, WWCC has become an organized non-profit consisting of seven
community members, as well as an official Chapter of the Rock River Coalition. Our group is
proud to partner with various City, County, and Local organizations; we are equally proud to
include dozens of residential volunteers who participate in various WWCC events each year.
This year’s Make a Difference Day on April 24th brought together a total of 36 volunteers from
our community to the Coalition’s two event locations at Whitewater Creek Nature Area and
Brewery Hill Park!
UW Whitewater (UW-W) students, UW-W Sustainability Department, and UW-W staff made
WWCC’s humble dreams come true at Whitewater Creek Nature area with a mural-painting
project, an invasive-pulling project, and (of course) the signature “trash cleanup” project.
UW Whitewater students and Whitewater’s own Rotary Club pushed hard to help clear garbage
at Brewery Hill Park, stretching from Starin Rd to Main St along the Creek’s walking path.
Our WWCC group extends our most heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals who came
together to make our MADD projects successful!
Thanks from all of us at WWCC (pictured left to right): Grant, Jeff, Will, Cedar, and Aubrey!
(With thanks to our other instrumental Creek teammates not pictured: Fletcher and Pip.)
