Thinking of those in Durham today, and in the future!

May God bring peace and comfort to all those involved!

🖤 Thinking of Durham Fire

Today, the North Carolina fire service family received heartbreaking news from Durham.

A Durham firefighter made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, while two additional firefighters were injured during the incident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the fallen firefighter’s family, loved ones, and the entire Durham Fire Department as they navigate an incredibly difficult day.

We’re also thinking of the two firefighters who were injured and praying for their continued recovery.

From firehouse to firehouse, department to department, we stand together.

Thinking of Durham Fire.
Standing with Durham Fire.
Never forgetting the sacrifice.

🚨 THE OCTOBER EPISODE IS LIVE! 🚨
We’ve been teasing this one, and now it’s finally here.

This month on The Carolina Fire Watch, we’re taking one major event and using it to start a much bigger conversation about the fire service.

But before we get there, Mike Legeros (Legeros Fire Line) takes us back in time with “This Month in North Carolina Fire Service History.”

Then Brian sits down with multiple guests for a conversation about what happens when an emergency becomes bigger than the fire department.

When communications fail…

When resources are stretched…

When communities need to evacuate…

When firefighters are dealing with the disaster themselves…

And when the response becomes a recovery measured in months and years.

Joining us are:

🚒 Chief Scott Rogers — Executive Director, North Carolina Emergency Management Association

🚒 Chief Anthony Penland — Swannanoa Fire Department

Together, we talk about preparedness, emergency management, communications, mutual aid, training, recovery, responder wellness, and the relationship between the fire service and emergency management.

🎙️ AFTER HELENE: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT & THE FIRE SERVICE

This isn't just a conversation about what happened.

It's about what we learned — and what we can do before the next major disaster.

And, of course, we wrap things up with another round of the Bucket Brigade. This time, Brian has some new random questions ready for our guests. 😂

LETS LEAD THE EAST!

🚨 NORTH CAROLINA — LET’S LEAD THE NATION! 🚨

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation "Seat Belt Pledge" is more than a promise; it’s a commitment to making sure every firefighter gets home.

Now we’re asking North Carolina fire departments to take the pledge and get your members signed up.

Let’s see how many North Carolina departments we can get participating.

🔥 Our goal: LET’S LEAD THE NATION IN THE MOST DEPARTMENTS WITH SIGN-UPS!

One department.
One member at a time.
One commitment:

Buckle up. Every seat. Every trip. Every time.

👉 Take the Seat Belt Pledge and get your department involved.

🇺🇸 25 Years Later — We Will Never Forget.

On September 11, 2001, our nation and the fire service were forever changed.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who answered their final alarm. We honor all who answered the call that day and those who continued to serve in the days, months, and years that followed.

We also remember the American spirit that emerged afterward: communities united, neighbors helping neighbors, and a renewed commitment to service.

Twenty-five years later, the Eastern Carolina Firefighters Association challenges our fire service family to keep that spirit alive.

Train together. Serve together. Support one another. Mentor the next generation. Be there for the department next door and the communities we proudly serve.

That is how we honor the fallen.
That is how we carry their legacy forward.

🇺🇸 **Never Forget. Never Stop Serving.**
