Interested in learning, teaching, or hosting s*x education in rural Appalachia? Want to gather for a weekend with others who do? This Training for Trainers might be for you. S*xy S*x Ed will be partnering to training people to use community media, popular education, visual arts, and more to share accurate and fun programming on consent, s*xual safety, birth control, and anatomy. There were so many highlights from our camp last week, but the solidarity between girls rock campers and those holding up a million dollars worth of coal is at the top. Two types of creative community resistance on both sides of Pine Mountain converged last week. Our campers delivered their handmade signs, songs, and Girls Rock t-shirts to those blockading a train filled with coal mined by miners who are still owed pay. One of our camper’s dad and brother are two of those miners and they are still holding the line today. Follow for updates.

DAY ONE of Girls Rock Whitesburg was a day for Instrument Roulette, Clothes Swap, and forming BANDS! The campers also had intros to digital music making and finding their voice. We are looking forward to DAY TWO. ⚡️✨

✨2019 Camper Showcase ✨

Join us in celebrating our 2nd Annual Camper Showcase at the ’s Solar Pavilion on Saturday, August 3rd at 6pm!

At GRW, our mission is to use music education to foster self-esteem, confidence, and leadership skills in female and gender expansive youth. Campers spend a week learning an instrument, forming a band, and writing a song in an inclusive and supportive environment. Throughout each session, GRW also provides daily radical workshops geared toward building self-esteem and self-expression.

At the end of our camp week, we host a Camper Showcase to show off all of their hard work. Please come out and show your support for youth empowerment in the mountains! YOU ROCK!
