HeavenEarth Church

HeavenEarth Church We’re a church for people who don’t fit neatly into church. For people who want change in their lives. For people who want to help people who are hurting.

Almost everyone, if they’re honest, will tell you that one of the hardest parts of living a life of deep faith is that we can’t see God; or even if we have powerful encounters with God, they seem to be followed by lots of other frustrating or confusing experiences where God is hard to see. No matter what you believe about Jesus, he was a living, breathing human being that people in history could see and touch. But the Holy Spirit–who Jesus promised would come after Jesus left–is…spirit. You can’t touch or see spirit exactly. But ironically, isn’t the spiritual life the more we’re all yearning for? Following Jesus and living life guided by the Spirit is like learning a different language, a different way of life, a life noticing the wild, untamable movement of God’s spirit even if we can't always see it with our eyes.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2; 2 Corinthians 3:3

What is the main goal of being a Christian? Is it to stop living the wrong way and start living the right way? To be a better person? To be a more loving person? Is it to avoid God’s judgment in the afterlife? While there isn’t one single right answer to this question, one of the ultimate goals and hopes of becoming a Christian is to be spiritual–specifically to “live life by the Spirit” as one saint said. The goal is to be filled with the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead and to learn to be guided and changed by the Spirit daily. When we do this, we’ll live better; we’ll be more loving; we’ll live more in our purpose and gifts. But we won’t do it by performing or acting. We’ll do it organically, authentically, genuinely from the inside out, from a heart that has been changed.
Scripture: Acts 1:8; Acts 2 (selected verses); 2 Corinthians 3:3

We want to bless the community through partnerships 🔥

Did you know we have focus areas throughout the year to help us do this better? 💪

For April & May, our focus has been mental health and recovery. If you haven't checked out Upstream Prevention, Inc., please do! Follow them on social media, support their work and consider plugging in with them.

For June & July, we'll be focusing on food insecurity. One of our primary partners to work with will be Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County.

Let's keep making a lasting impact together!

We are destined to be like this multiplying offering—people who receive an abundant supply of grace as an offering from Jesus and who pour that out abundantly into others

Something extraordinary about God’s beautiful and mysterious design for humankind is that we can see who we are as people–with all of our unique intricacies, strengths and flaws–from the time we are very small. In some ways, we are who we are from the beginning. And yet, another perhaps even more extraordinary feature of the relationship into which we’re called with God through Jesus is that we can always transform and become more of the glorious person God has called us to be. We are always the same in God, always changing by the power of the Spirit.

No one can do something about everything.
But everyone is called and gifted by Jesus to do something about something.
In Christ's kingdom, everyone has a place.
What's your something?
How can you empower someone else to find theirs?

There’s something we say sometimes at HEC: No one can do something about everything, but each of us is gifted and called to do something about something. This reality indicates that we can experience frustration in a couple of different ways. One, our lives can be frustrating when we’re living far from our unique purpose and calling–we’re not doing that special something about something we can do. Two, our lives can be frustrating when we’re dabbling in our unique purpose, but we’re also dabbling in many other things–we’re doing a little bit of everything about everything. When we grow in our personalities, strengths, weaknesses and purposes with the help of the Spirit–and empower others likewise–there is a growing peace and joy that comes with it.

EVERYONE HAS A PLACE 🔥 As each of us takes our place with Jesus and grow in the Spirit, we wake up to our unique gifting as an apostle, prophet, evangelist and/or teacher (and these words aren't what you think they are, probably).

Ask 3-5 people who know you well which of these they think is your leading gifting? Obviously these words are not easily relatable, which is why we created the slides. Also, you can check out where Ross talked about each of them here: https://www.youtube.com/live/7nkg9OofoGM?si=6pVXEPQCvEP4zPS_&t=2015
