HeavenEarth Church

HeavenEarth Church We’re a church for people who don’t fit neatly into church. For people who want change in their lives. For people who want to help people who are hurting.

In the four accounts of Jesus’s life, Jesus was always–ALWAYS–healing people. Sometimes Jesus simply encountered someone who was hurting or sick on the road, and he stopped what he was doing to give the person his attention, his love and his power. Many other times, people trusted Jesus to the point that they came from a distance to seek healing for themselves or on behalf of someone else. Wherever Jesus was, healing happened–physical, mental and especially spiritual. What would it look like for people who followed Jesus to have the same healing presence?

Jesus asks us to lay down our judgmental stones we’re gearing up to throw at people.
He asks up to offer people gracious stones that ground and strengthen them.

There's a story in the Bible about Jesus, a woman, a scandal, and a crowd. What was going on? How did Jesus respond? Why does it matter for us today? We invite you to join our conversation about John 8:1-11.

Our hope as people who belong to Jesus is that our hearts will be shaped by his and that our priorities will reflect his.

If you knew nothing of Jesus but paid close attention to many public figures who are outspoken about their faith, what would you think were Jesus’s priorities based on how those public figures conduct themselves? Seeking power with faith and for faith? Pushing faith on the public through legislative action? Certain views of marriage? Would you be surprised to find out that the real Jesus resisted human power and intentionally cautioned others against human systems of power? Would you be surprised to find that Jesus spoke more about the poor by far than he did about most other subjects? What would happen if Christians’ priorities were Jesus’s?
Scripture: Matthew 16:5-12

Data and stories tell us that many folks, especially in younger generations, don’t see Jesus when they look at Christians and Christianity. What they see and hear is what many Christians say they are against. They don’t necessarily see the good fruit of what Christians are for–things that reflect Jesus. This is regrettable because Jesus was full of something that many people around him experienced and were radically changed by: heart…God’s heart specifically. Jesus came to earth to show and offer us God’s heart so we would be completely changed from the inside out by God’s very own heart.

Where’s Jesus?
Many folks, especially younger folks, feel like they can find Christianity in every direction they look, but what they can’t find is Jesus…or at the very least the goodness, beauty and power of Jesus that positively impacts people and communities.
