A patient at an Amigos eye camp in Karamoja, Uganda, in her own words: the cataracts were in both eyes, the team operated one side, and the doctor told her to come back after a month for the other. Then one of the team: "You too can be a part of this."

Sixty people came out seeing.

Dr. Paul Mulyamboga sent the final count from the Anaka eye camp this morning. Over three days at Anaka General Hospital in Nwoya District, northern Uganda, his team recorded 60 cataract surgeries, 570 eye check-ups and treatment, and 300 eyeglasses given out. Those are three separate registers, so we do not add them together. What we can say plainly: sixty people lay down on that table blind from cataracts, and got up able to see.

The surgeons volunteered their time. Amigos paid for lodging and meals. The Global Eyeglass Ministry team fitted and handed out the glasses.

Also in this week's letter: before final exams, the secondary school students of Nhendegese Baptist Church in Tanzania knelt at the front of their church. Pastor Abogust prayed over them, and then the pens came out.

She came more than 150 kilometers, from Lira, blind in both eyes. After her surgery Dr. Paul Mulyamboga wrote: “Now after her surgery, she is able to see. Look at her joy.”

This week’s letter is from Shiloh Sight, the free eye camp at Anaka General Hospital in Uganda. Dr. Paul’s first count was 36 cataract surgeries on day one. That number is preliminary. The medical totals are still being counted, and we will share them when they are verified, not before.

The pastoral team’s count is in, as reported from the field: 67 people received Christ in three days.

Nothing is charged to the person in the chair. The goal for this camp is $5,000. One gift or fifty, it all counts toward Anaka.

Shiloh Sight opened Friday, October 9, at Anaka General Hospital in Nwoya District, Uganda. Dr. Paul Mulyamboga’s word from the field: “Started well, Cataract Surgeries are underway.” His first-day count is 36 cataract surgeries. That number is preliminary; the full results come after the camp closes Sunday.

Day one is in the books.

Shiloh Sight opened Friday morning at Anaka General Hospital in Nwoya District, Uganda. By afternoon Dr. Paul Mulyamboga sent word: “Started well, Cataract Surgeries are underway.”

His first-day count: 36 cataract surgeries. That number is preliminary. The full results come after the camp closes Sunday, counted and verified.

Free eye exams. Free eyeglasses. Free cataract surgery. Nothing is charged to the person in the chair. We are serving alongside Charity Vision International and Global Eyeglass Ministry, and we are praying for 100 cataract surgeries and 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses over three days. Those are goals, not promises.

On Monday Dr. Paul Mulyamboga sent three words from Uganda: "Eye camp approved."

The Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners' Council has approved the camp in Nwoya District. It is set for three days, October 9 to 11, at Anaka General Hospital, near our Korobar MissionPoint. Eye exams, eyeglasses and cataract surgery, free to every person who walks in.

We are praying for 100 cataract surgeries and 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses. Those are goals, not promises. You will get the real count when it is counted.

Would you pray this week for Dr. Paul, the surgical team and every person who makes the walk to Anaka?
