Todd and Piper are still available for adoption. The rescue wants to place this pair on their own, so please contact them directly. They sound like great dogs! Their website is centrecountypaws.org

We spoke with owner before surrender, but he chose to place them in shelter because he was moving and it was easier. They are still there! Please, if you are an experienced Vizsla owner in PA please contact the shelter in State College for an application or to find out more.

Posting to let everyone know that our four wonderful seniors are settling in at their new home beautifully and are as sweet as can be. Sandra, you did a great job with your dogs. They clearly know love and want it.
We are so grateful to our adopters who didn't hesitate to take all 4. It's a special setting with great humans who know the breed, lots of land, fenced yards, and unlimited love. There are also two houses, so the gang is decompressing in the guest house and will meet their siblings, a male Beagle and a female Vizsla, soon. Paws crossed that it's a love match too.
Thank you to every person who offered to help or has donated. We can't do this without people who help us make the millionaire matches happen. ✌💖🐾

FREEDOM UPDATE 3/23/26: Andee, Sophee, Ranger, and Griffin were pulled from Animal Control yesterday and have been adjusting quietly in their new home. They are doing great so far! Pic added of Freedom Ride and first bones. Thank you to all involved!

AMAZING UPDATE 3/21/26: The dogs are staying together—miracles do happen! All 4 dogs will be going tomorrow morning to a home in Virginia with prior New Hope Vizsla Rescue adopters who have land, a quiet home, lots of Vizsla experience, and a special love for seniors. This is beyond my greatest hopes for Andee, Sophee, Griffin, and Ranger. I am so grateful and relieved. I am also grateful for the outpouring of care and concern, plus offers of help that came from near and far. Thank you. You have restored my faith in people and our Vizsla community.

There are two other dogs in the home, so please keep following if you were interested in Ranger or Griffin. The girls are staying put, regardless, and we hope all the personalities of the younger dogs mesh, but I will post on our page and in this post if additional help is needed. They are going from a pack of four to a pack of six.

Last, if you would like to donate to their care, please visit www.newhopevizslarescue.org and click on the “Donate” tab. Thank you to our amazing adopters, volunteers, and followers! 🩷

URGENT! FOSTERS/ADOPTERS NEEDED! Please Share this post.
We have sad stories, but some crush our hearts. An adopter with 4 Vizslas passed suddenly leaving her four beloved senior dogs behind. Males Ranger and Griffin, both 10, and females Sophee 13 and Andee 14 are in emergency care with Animal Control in Suffolk VA, where they were taken when found in their home.

The first step is getting them out into foster homes or potential adopter homes as soon as possible! These dogs are a family but will need to be separated. I know that, even though it hurts. In a dream world they could go in pairs, but I am open to all suggestions. Griffin and Andee are very bonded, if anyone would like to be a rescue hero. More individual information about the dogs is below, and info will be added to this post as I learn more. These dogs are all in good shape, up to date with vet care, healthy, spayed/neutered, loving, and are in the same room in the shelter. They can at least see their family.

Can you help by fostering? Are you interested in adopting? Contact me, Debra Evalds, at [email protected] with your information and interest. You can text me at 267-307-1708 please give your name and location when texting or emailing.

Their owner, Sandra, loved these dogs with all of her heart and left a directive to contact New Hope Vizsla Rescue in case of emergency. Her dogs were her best friends, so there aren’t friend options. This is not our area, and we need help from our rescue friends in Virginia!
I knew Sandra over the last decade and placed Griffin with her in 2019 and Ranger in 2022, and I know how well these dogs were cared for because a home check was done prior to adoption and we communicated regularly over the years. The lovely family portrait is one Sandra sent me in November 2025. Their life existed of playing on a fenced acre of backyard, lounging on cushy sofas, going on group walks, and sleeping in a king-sized bed with their mother. Please help me find a place for them to transition to where life can be full of love for their golden years. The boys are still very playful with each other, but the girls are old ladies. They need special families who will bring in a senior, knowing it won’t be forever, and just show them the love they have always known.

A little more about the dogs and it’s limited beyond what is stated above:
Andee- 14-year-old spayed female wants a soft place to land. Support will be provided for medical care. Andee is very bonded with Griffin, and he is probably even more bonded to her. Praying for a miracle to keep them together.
Sophee- 13-year-old spayed female. Support can be provided for medical care.
Griffin-age 10 neutered male is a very Velcro and attached Vizsla adopted in 2019, a bit more on the fearful and needy side. Sandra adored him and he was stuck to her or one of the other dogs all the time. She said he was so sweet and “all Vizsla”. Griffin came from an active home with young kids and it was not a match. He was a nervous little boy when placed, but he became so comfortable and happy with Sandra. Griffin is especially attached to Andee.
Ranger- 10-Year-old neutered male. Ranger came to Sandra in 2022 and was placed in rescue for being a wandering free spirit. He had a large property and did as he pleased. He met a female dog and started wandering to visit her when his “kids” were at school, crossing a highway, which was life-threatening! Ranger is probably the easiest placement. He has lived with kids, cats, chickens, and farm animals. He is a happy go lucky boy and would love a home with a female Vizsla or few. Ranger will need a fenced yard, given his history of rambling.

2/24/26 UPDATE- Both boys are adopted! An NHVR volunteer visited and confirmed this in person.
Hope they have great homes and thrive with their new families!
Reach out if you adopted Owl or Rabbit.

These puppies are at the Brandywine Valley SPCA adoption center in southern New Jersey. If you are interested in adopting you can contact them directly. We do not have these puppies!
I am sharing to our followers in hopes of finding an experienced Vizsla family for Rabbit and Owl. Most shelters do not adopt long distance, so please do not overwhelm them with calls if you are out of this region and cannot adopt in person. We have reached out by email and phone to offer assistance, but many organizations prefer to adopt out the dogs they have directly. All we want is for these pups to get a good home.

These are our people. We know Vizslas are practically human, so it makes sense. 🤣 How do you talk to your dogs?

A new study has found that people who talk to their dogs as if they were human companions tend to score higher on measures of emotional intelligence. The research suggests that the ability to assign emotional depth and personality to animals is linked to increased empathy and social awareness in human interactions.

This behavior, often seen as playful or eccentric, may actually reflect an individual’s advanced capacity for emotional connection. Researchers found that participants who frequently conversed with pets were more attuned to subtle social cues and demonstrated greater compassion in relationships.

Experts say that anthropomorphizing pets can serve as emotional training, especially for children and the elderly. It helps create a safe space for emotional expression and bonding. In short, if you talk to your dog like it’s a roommate, science says you might be more emotionally intelligent than the average person.

PLACEMENT NO LONGER NEEDED- Thanks for all of your interest in Duke! We are always touched by the outpouring of love for older dogs in rescue. Duke's family decided to give Duke to a family friend. They will contact if out help is needed in the future. Hope you have a great life with your new family Duke! Updated 9/16/24
_____________________________________________________________________
Do you need to add a 10-year-old darling gent to your family?
Well, meet Duke.
Duke is a sweetie and needs a loving home. He is neutered, healthy, up to date with vet care, housetrained, and loved. Duke can live with cats, dogs, and children and presently lives with a Pibble mix and a smaller fluffy dog in Montgomery County, PA.

We have had this story before, and it's always sad. Duke was owned by a younger man but gave him to his senior citizen parents. The mom loves Duke very much, but she is having health issues, the home has a lot of stairs and Duke is a trip hazard for her. There is no need to find a foster as his present owners wants to keep him until a good home is found and would like to meet the new owners. They are attached to Duke and wouldn't rehome him if it weren't for Deborah's health.

So that's Duke's story. He is also very loving and a typical cuddler Vizsla boy. He likes to play, counter surf, has a few normal senior Vizsla skin tags and fatty lipomas, and is very well taken care of. Duke is also a very handsome boy!

Email [email protected] or text 610-972-5021 to find out more about Duke. He really is a gem. 😍🐾

ADOPTED TOGETHER!!!!! Yeah, we pulled it off!!!!!

Updated and pics added 8/15/25. Keep checking this post for new information:
We have great news! 5 yo Wi******er, the Vizsla, and 7 yo Franklin, the GSP, were pulled from the shelter by our amazing Bucks County volunteers and are in a short-term foster home. They are truly wonderful, and we need to find a forever family to keep them together now.

The boys were surrendered to the Women’s Animal Shelter in Bensalem, PA, on 8/1. They were surrendered due to divorce and both parents were moving to places where dogs aren't permitted. (IMPORTANT: If you are their original humans, or know the boys, please reach out! No judgement ever! We can tell they were loved would just like better history to help the boys. They are safe and have a jackpot home. Text me!)

Back to the boys...They were listed separately on Petfinder, but our volunteers found out that Wi******er had a "brother" when they went to evaluate the Vizsla. Well, they met them both and we quickly decided that they needed to stay together because they are a bonded pair. This is not our first pair pull, and it won't be our last. We need an adopter or foster to adopt both boys and love them for the wonderful pair they are! Please email your info and interest [email protected] to help or text 267-307-1708.

We have some interest but want to make sure we are looking for the best fit for them. These boys are a fabulous instant family and deserve to be cherished. We could have just looked out for Wi******er, but Franklin is a gem, and they are brothers from another mother! After being separated at the shelter, they bear hugged when reunited. These poor boys spent 2 weeks apart at the shelter. That is a long time for these breeds to be in a shelter, and they were both very stressed out there. Despite that, a day after their jailbreak, they are full of curiosity and love. Neither has shown one bit of aggression about anything. They are bigger boys, with Wi******er at about 70 lbs and Franklin 90 lbs. Both are up to date medically, neutered, crate trained, and housebroken. They want attention, play, and affection! They are new in foster, so we will have more to add. So far, they are loving their foster dad, don't want to be without "Dad" or each other, are eating, love to play, try to squeeze their big butts into the same crate, and are adorable. Wi******er is the comedian of the pair and Franklin is the straight man. You would fall in love if you met them.

This is our adopter wish list, and we aim high:
We'd love the foster or adopter to not have other dogs, as a pair may not transition as easily into a new pack as a single dog. We know they went to doggie daycare, so they must be dog friendly, but we risk-minimize because we haven’t tested then with other dogs yet. A potential adopter with other Vizslas must live close enough to Lower Bucks to visit with their dogs and We won’t have a chance to cat test them, but they have met 2 children and were good boys. We won't to do long distance unless we cannot find a good home for them closer, so limiting to PA/NJ/DE/MD for now. We are ok for foster to adopt if applicant is breed experienced and a great fit. A fenced yard to run is always on our wish list, but we are flexible if the environment is safe and the adopter is experienced.

NOTE: We need to place the boys, but we put safety first and evaluate dogs before we place with a foster or adopter. We also vet applicants and do home checks. Our application is at www.newhopevizslarescue.org We don't ship long distance or use transporters. We are dedicated to placing dogs safely into compatible homes where dogs will succeed. Please read above post fully. Thank you. ✌💖🐾🙏
