In 2023 Whitehall'sl Kindergarten student readiness was rated LAST in Franklin County. Whitehall's Superintendent, Dr. Sharee Wells, partnered with Head Start & the YMCA to offer all-day Pre-K classes instead of only half-day classes. Kae Avenue school's original playground, circa mid-1960's, needed to be replaced too!

WYAA decided to help support their new playground by sponsoring a "30k in 30 Days" fundraiser. Alumni from across the country, the City & VFW also donated resulting in raising $32k in 30 days. The new playground equipment was designed for Pre-K & disabled students. WYAA was recognized by Dr. Wells & Whitehall Board of Education & Mayor Maggard.

So, we're THRILLED that Whitehall's 2023 Pre-K Program was awarded a Gold Status through the State of Ohio’s Step Up To Quality program! 🌟.

This recognition awards Ohio's Pre-K programs that go above & beyond state standards—providing High-Quality instruction, Well-Trained Educators, & Intentional Learning Experiences that support every child’s growth. This achievement reflects the hard work & dedication of Director Lisa Miller & the. the C. Ray Pre-K School team!

Congratulations!! WYHS has earned the State of Ohio Momentum Award!!!

This award recognizes significant improvement in student performance and continued strong academic growth. It's given to schools that not only raise overall achievement, but also demonstrate meaningful progress in how much students are learning year over year!

WYAA will Honor Alumni from 1961-2025 Bands, Majorettes, Flags, Drum Majors & Orchestras! More details will be announced in June.
