First, I have to thank God. I see His hand in the doors that continue to open, the people He continues to place in my path, and the opportunity He has given me to do work that means so much to me.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend DDAP’s Recovery Month event, and I can honestly say it touched me more than I expected.
When I first got there, I actually cried.
I had to take a moment and process everything I was feeling. Looking around and seeing so many people in one place who have dedicated themselves to recovery and helping others was emotional for me. People from different organizations, different counties, different backgrounds—all coming together because they care about people and recovery.
As I went around and spoke with people, I could feel their sincerity. I could see the empathy and passion they have for the work they do. I met so many individuals who genuinely want to make a difference, and being surrounded by that kind of energy meant a lot to me because I understand that passion. I carry it with me every day in the work that I do.
I didn’t go there just to network. I went there to listen and learn. I came home with new relationships, more knowledge, and more resources that I can now share with the people I have the honor of coming across. To me, that is what these connections are really about. If something I learned yesterday helps me open one more door for somebody tomorrow, that matters.
I’m truly grateful for the work DDAP is doing throughout Pennsylvania and for the impact they continue to have in the recovery community. I am honored that ProSolve Global Solutions Recovery Houses is a DDAP-licensed recovery house provider and that I also had the opportunity to represent The Productive Offenders of Society Foundation and our work in recovery and reentry.
And then there’s this photo. That’s me reaching across the DDAP table and shaking hands with a colleague. I didn’t even know that moment was being captured. But when I saw it, it meant something to me because that simple moment represents so much of what yesterday was about—connection.
I thank God for this program, for the people in it, for the people in recovery and reentry, and for every person He continues to put in my path.
This work is personal to me. It comes from a very real place in my heart. I genuinely love what I do, I love helping people, and yesterday reminded me just how many of us are out here doing this work together, and it deeply touched my heart. It was very impactful to be united for the same cause 💜
