Today we closed out an incredible summer of Veterans Golf at Buffalo Hills Golf Course — and what a way to finish. Thank you to the Kalispell MT Vet Center for leading this great program and to the donors of the Whitefish Veteran Support Team for unwavering support of local Veterans.

Watching veterans come together for a round of golf and a shared lunch reminds us why events like this matter: fresh air and gentle competition ease stress, conversation on the course builds trust, and a simple meal strengthens bonds that boost morale long after the day ends. Golf offers low-impact exercise, routine, and a relaxed setting where veterans can reconnect, share stories, and support one another.

A huge shout-out to everyone who played, volunteered, and helped make today — and this whole season — possible. If you’d like to get involved, learn about upcoming events, or support this program, please visit our page and follow for updates. Together we keep our veteran community strong.

Grateful and proud of all the wonderful volunteers who supported the 24th Annual Veteran Stand Down in Libby, MT this past weekend. WVST distributed hundreds of pairs of gloves, socks, long johns, and Subway gift cards to nearly 400 + veteran families in need.

Stand Down events do more than distribute gear; they restore dignity, build community, and offer hope. For veterans facing homelessness, unemployment, or mental health challenges, a single day like this can be a turning point. The conversations, connections, and simple acts of care help veterans take the next step forward.

This weekend was filled with laughter, meaningful conversations, and real impact. We hope even more members will join us next year.

To everyone who supported this effort: thank you for your compassion and commitment to our veteran community. If you’d like to get involved next year or learn more, send a message.

24th Annual Libby Stand Down Oct 4-5th!!!!!

Less than two weeks remain to contribute during the annual Great Fish Community Challenge, and just one month until the 24th Annual Libby Stand Down! Community support and donations play a crucial role in enabling us to support such impactful events locally.

In Northwest Montana, as the cool autumn breeze descends, one event shines brightly above the rest, serving as a vital support system for thousands of veterans. The 24th Annual Libby Stand Down, organized by the Northwest Montana Veterans Food Pantry, unites community partners, volunteers, and veterans in a spirit of gratitude and assistance. Scheduled for October 4 and 5, 2025, at the Libby Memorial Events Center in Libby, MT, this two-day gathering is a lifeline for those who have honorably served our country.

Reflecting on the profound impact of previous Stand Downs is truly inspiring. Numerous veterans have not only received supplies but have also gained valuable insights into benefits they were unaware of, such as educational support or housing assistance, which can significantly alter the course of a family's future.

What began more than two decades ago in the Erickson family's front yard as a modest initiative to aid local veterans has evolved into a substantial community outreach effort. The event now attracts up to 2,500 participants annually. Upon entering this vibrant venue, one can feel the energy of conversations and the aroma of comforting meals. Veterans from various regions, some traveling from remote areas of Montana, have access to a wide range of free resources tailored to their specific needs. From surplus military clothing, socks, and underwear to nutritious food packages and first aid kits, the event addresses essential requirements that often go unmet for those experiencing hardships. Peer counseling sessions offer a safe space for connecting with fellow service members, fostering bonds that serve as a reminder that no one is alone. Additionally, on-site VA benefits assistance.

Honoring Montana's Heroes

In a powerful display of remembrance, members of the Whitefish Veterans Support Team joined with numerous bikers and veterans in Helena, Montana, on August 16th, 2025, for the 12th Annual Montana Ride to Remember. This poignant motorcycle journey paid tribute to over 82,000 POW/MIA personnel nationwide, with a heartfelt emphasis on the 53 individuals missing from Montana.

Escorted by the Montana Highway Patrol along Highway 287, also known as Montana's POW/MIA Memorial Highway, the ride from Helena to West Yellowstone featured a solemn procession led by a five-person "missing man formation." Fifty-three riders carried poignant "dog tags," each bearing the story of one of the 53 Montana POW/MIA personnel, ensuring their memory rides on.

Communities along the route came together, lining the roads with American and POW/MIA flags, offering a touching salute as the participants rode past. The sheer outpouring of support left many moved to tears, underscoring the profound impact of honoring those who are still missing in action.

The bond among veterans transcends words, showcasing a deep-seated love and camaraderie for their fellow servicemen and women. The Montana Ride to Remember stands as a poignant testament to the unwavering commitment to never forget those who have sacrificed for our country.
