In the past week, K9’s Rico, Rosso and Zora were deployed on numerous calls to assist local law enforcement agencies. These deployments included building searches, high risk vehicle stops, area searches and evidence recovery, with suspects taken into custody and evidence located. Another busy week for our unit serving the Flathead Valley!

Help us support our incredible teams!

The Flathead K9 Foundation is proud to have welcomed another incredible tracking resource to our SAR K9 teams collective growth and directed community service.

Kevin Baughn of GAK9 Idaho has spent 8 days working with 10 K9 tracking teams from our valley and Missoula, and the experience was invaluable.

The support that we have from our community makes these opportunities possible. Please visit our website to continue parlaying into the future for the safety of our beautiful home and its occupants.

Zora is a very busy girl!!!! She and her handler are working hard to keep our community safe... visit our main site to help support them. www.FlatheadK9.org

On 9/29, K9 Zora responded to assist Deputies with a shooting which occurred in Hungry Horse. Zora was deployed to conduct a search for the fi***rm used by the suspect during the incident. Zora successfully located the fi***rm, a key piece of evidence, which was concealed in the residence. Another example of the need for these resources in our community. Good job K9 Zora!

Congratulations to K9 Zora and her handler!

Last week, K9 Zora responded to three different incidents to assist both the Sheriff’s Office and the Kalispell Police Department. A pursuit suspect who fled from Deputies on a traffic stop, ultimately surrendered to Zora and was taken into custody. Zora assisted Kalispell PD with a building search after a burglary. Finally, Zora responded to Hungry Horse to assist Deputies in locating evidence from a shooting that occurred. Three great examples of how important canine resources are to the community. Nice work K9 Zora!

Here is a glimpse into the training that goes into detection work with our LE K9 team.

Detection training for these dogs employ the use of these cans with the target odors (explosives, narcotics, fi***rm components, etc,) as well as odors the dogs need to ignore!
