Sherlock and his handler are incredibly experienced components of the FCSO K9 team and our community - stay tuned as he and his new explosives detection K9 partner Walker may make an appearance Thursday night at our Pint Night!

Recently, FCSO explosive detection K9 Sherlock attended a joint training at Malmstrom Air Force Base hosted by our military members. What an incredible opportunity for Sherlock to work on his detection skills and expand his searching capabilities. Thank you to MWD Team Support Assoc., Inc. for the photo!

Amazing work by K9 Vito and his handler!!!

Come meet them next Thursday evening at our Foundation pint night at Big Mountain Ciderworks!

This picture highlights the importance of tracking for our unit.

During this incident, K9 Vito and his handler responded to assist Montana Highway Patrol with locating a suspect who fled on foot after a pursuit. At night in total darkness, Vito was able to track to the suspect who was found hiding under a camper, where he ultimately surrendered. Even the suspect was complimenting the dog’s abilities at the conclusion of the incident.

This is a small example of how important a tracking profile is for our K9 partners. By increasing our ability to locate suspects, we increase safety to our community.

Rosso was purchased as a joint venture with funds donated by our amazing donors as well as Flathead Electric's Roundup for Safety Grant.

Join our incredible K9 teams for a pint night at Big Mountain Ciderworks August 27th at 4pm.

For those of our followers who need a wrinkly puppy fix, handler China's baby K9 Marshal will make his PR debut (much to Johnnie's dismay!)

What a whirlwind of a summer it has been!!

At the beginning of June, our tracking/trailing and area teams certified with NAPWDA master trainer Travis Walthall.

That busy week was followed by a tracking course with Noz with a total of 8 K9 and handler teams.

The end of the month was celebrated by a successful sweep of ALL the human remains K9 teams passing their certifications with Noz as well.

As with any intense testing period - dogs and handlers enjoyed some time off - but were back at it again the following weekend to keep up on the skills they learned during testing and courses to help keep the residents and visitors of the Flathead Valley safe!

Thank you to the wonderful master trainers with NAPWDA who have continued to invest their time and energy in our incredible teams.

Our next event is another pint night at Big Mountain Ciderworks on August 27th - we will post up to that with all the good raffles, etc!

The Flathead K9 Foundation via a very generous donor sponsored continued tracking bliss into another week of courses with the incredible Robert Noziska and Sarah Boese with National Canine Facility.

Two courses of three days, each with four K9 teams spent many hours in the field learning and putting in play new techniques with their tracking partners. Each team grew leaps and bounds with each repetition and by the last track on the last day, it had come together for everyone!

Training opportunities like this one help shape the success of our K9 teams here in the valley, and promote the public safety that we strive to protect for our residents and visitors. Happy tracking!

Please join the Foundation in extending a HUGE congratulations to all of our SAR K9 teams as well as our explosives teams for certifying at the Montana Law Enforcement Canine Association NAPWDA workshop last week!

This was a huge accomplishment and we celebrate it in stride as we continue the hard work and long hours of training committed to serving our community! An added dimension to this year was the brilliant performance of 4 very young dogs who all certified at 11 months old! The up and comers will be in training for many many more months before being deployable,

This coming weekend we host Robert Noziska who is doing two tracking seminars for 8 total tracking teams - no rest for the weary or the searching!

Our next fun pint night is August 27th at Big Mountain Ciderworks - join us to celebrate!!
