Bay Bridge congratulates WFB high school senior, Jake Bilsky as this year's recipient of the Bay Bridge Student Leader Scholarship for his demonstrated commitment to social justice. Since the eighth grade, Jake has been actively involved with BBYO, an organization intended to build the identity of Jewish teens. He served as Regional Secretary and Regional President of the Wisconsin Region. As Jake stated in his essay, in his role as president, he was "organizing large scale events, leading fundraising efforts, and speaking publicly about Jewish identity and resilience at a moment when that conversation carries real weight." Jake was also a member of a Milwaukee Jewish teen board and participated in Bay Gives Back, Sources of Strength, and Big Buddy Little Buddy at the high school.

Jake is the fifth recipient of the Bay Bridge Student Leader Scholarship, which is made possible by gifts from our community. This year, Bay Bridge will award its 5th student scholarship—something we’ve been able to do each year thanks to community support.

This award goes to a Whitefish Bay High School senior who has shown leadership in social justice, advocacy, or community organizing. These students are already shaping what equity and community responsibility can look like in real, everyday ways.

Supporting young people matters. The next generation of leaders is actively paving the way for a more caring and equitable future. This scholarship is one way to recognize that work and say: keep going, we see you, and it matters.

We often talk about supporting young people—but what does that actually look like?

For us, one way is recognizing students who are actively engaged in making our community a more welcoming place for all. The Bay Bridge Student Scholarship supports Whitefish Bay High School seniors who have demonstrated leadership in social justice, advocacy, or community organizing.

This spring, Bay Bridge is preparing to award its 5th Student Scholarship, and we’re currently fundraising to meet our $1,000 goal!
