Message from an autistic person for informational purposes only;
Please do not use blue pumpkins for autistic people and please stop spreading this idea. It is dangerous and demeaning. Much of the autistic community opposes this use of the blue buckets.
As an autistic person. I am begging you to preserve your child's privacy and safety and do not harness them with a symbol advertising their neurotype. This isn't autism acceptance. This is autism othering.
Folks should be encouraged to be inclusive without needing a visual reminder to do if someone is trick or treating and cannot verbally communicate, they should receive a treat anyway. If they are not in costume, they should receive a treat anyway. If they are unable to express gratitude, they should receive a treat anyway. That's how it works. Treat everyone equally, without needing a sign or a pumpkin of a specific color to remind you to be inclusive.
Autistic people should not have to make themselves a target for other people seeking to exploit/harm vulnerable people, who may be overly trusting (and yes, your autistic kids do then to be more trusting, for a variety of reasons, even if you think "Oh, no, not my kid! Yes, your kid too." They should not be forced to be traveling zoo exhibits, at which everyone can point and gawk because their blue bucket is a sign they're different.
Additionally, saying someone "has a body of an adult" is engaging in infantilization and is grossly ableist! Don't!
Thanks
