White SD Area Historical Society and Museum

Are you available to help the White Area Museum be open for viewing on Saturday, July 18, Pioneer Day weekend? Volunteers are needed to monitor the buildings on our grounds and answer or take questions as needed.

Our shifts are 10:00 a.m. to noon; noon to 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Three individuals are needed for each shift. If you are able to help please contact Kathy McKinney or Charlotte Mickelson.

Great program at museum yesterday! Thanks to Jasper Courteau for his talk and display on World War 1. Great display and very informative.
Thank you also to Gene Murphy and Lyle Bowes sharing their Vietnam experience. Hometown boy was able to return home due to lifesaving efforts of comrade and friend Lyle.
The museum society thanks them for sharing their experiences with those in attendance.
If you were unable to attend you missed two great programs.
Pioneer days will be our next program, which will be presented at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 18. Mark your calendars!

Don't forget - Work Day again tomorrow at the museum (Wednesday, June 10) at 9:00 a.m. We will get things ready for our opening on Sunday.

Sunday, June 14, 2026 we will present two programs at the museum: World War I display and talk at 1:00 p.m. by Jasper Courteau. Jasper has a very extensive collection of World War I items.
At 2:00 p.m. Gene Murphy and Lyle Bowes will present "Vietnam Experiences".
It will be a great day at the museum. Join us (there are cookies and lemonade also)!
Come celebrate the 250th Anniversary of our nation on Sunday, June 14, FLAG DAY!

Th;ursday, May 28 is work day, beginning at 9:00 a.m. We will work in the morning to prepare museum for the summer opening. Appreciate you sharing your time with us.

Our first work day to prepare the museum for visitors will be on Thursday, May 28, at 9:00 a.m. We will only work in the morning. Please come and join us - stay as long as your schedule permits.

Our second work day will be Wednesday, June 10, also beginning at 9:00 a.m. Again you are welcome to stay as long as your schedule permits.

We appreciate our volunteers and all you do for our society and museum!
