🗓️ SAVE THE DATE: March 20, 2027 🗓️
Join us for Operation Way of the Cross at the Bataan Memorial Death March!
This isn’t just a physical challenge; it is a profound Lenten Pilgrimage. Every single year, we are humbled to witness the incredible growth of this mission. We continue to see a rising number of dedicated cross bearers, as well as more and more “Simon’s”—those generous souls who step in to help carry the crosses when called upon, just as Simon of Cyrene did for Christ. ✝️
Feeling called to join the journey but worried about the cost? Please don’t let finances hold you back. Contact us directly if you are interested but concerned about how to pay for the trip. We will work with you to help get you there!
Not everyone is physically able to take on the grueling miles of the ruck march, and that is completely okay! Providing camp support is just as vital to our mission and is a deeply worthy Lenten offering in its own right. Serving your brothers and sisters behind the scenes makes this entire pilgrimage possible.
Take a look at the flyer above for location details, and let’s make 2027 our most impactful year yet.

I know I don’t post a lot. A lot of it is just my dislike and discomfort with social media. Several years ago, I didn’t mind it too much, but over last few years, it’s just become a drag.

However, after meeting up with an old college friend, I’m trying to change my mind.

We’re a nonprofit. You can search us up on the IRS website, which means that we operate off of public donations. And that means the people who donate deserve to know that their hard earned money is being put to good use.

So here’s a quick update:

Not one cent goes to myself or the other officers. We’re strictly all volunteer until we hit a growth point to where this becomes full time.

The majority of donations goes towards operations, such as insurance and website costs.

The remaining funds goes towards outreach, such as marketing materials like shirts (which are still available for purchase, especially here in Cheyenne, WY).

We’re keeping funds in reserve to print out workbooks. Each Vanguard Workbook will be approximately 200 pages. The moral injury specific workbook will be 50 pages. And the retreat workbook will be 30 pages. We hope to encourage expansion through having a standard template from which to operate. I’ve currently written 94 pages of the 200 pages.

We’ve continued to meet every week in our founding Vanguard, here in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

We’re pushing for a nearby outdoor excursion location by partnering with BitofWYO.

We’re also planning our September (Archery Only) Annual Retreat and our October (Rifle Only) Annual Retreat. This will be the first year to do both.

Other funds went to our annual Operation WAY OF THE CROSS pilgrimage, where we’ve steadily and remarkably grown.

Bottom line: We are absolutely active and have saved both lives and souls by the grace of God.

Thankful for Bit-O-Wyo Ranch and Events and their devotion to helping veterans, service members, first responders, and their families!

Freedom isn’t free; it was paid for by the lives of brave men and women.

This Memorial Day, we don’t celebrate a long weekend. We commemorate their
ultimate sacrifice.

At Stag and Cross Outdoors, while the wild is sometimes our cathedral, and the mountains are normally where we find solace and strength, this weekend we look up to the skies and stars, remembering the brothers and sisters who gave their last full measure.

Each peak, each open valley, is a quiet testament to their lives.

We find our healing out here, and we carry their memories with us on every mile. We are grounded in faith and purposeful in our remembrance. Today, and every day, we honor the fallen.

Lest we forget.

If you are able, please drop the name of a brother or sister in the comments who made the ultimate sacrifice, so we can honor them.

We spend so much time fighting through the hard days, we can’t forget to actually live in the good ones.

Healing isn’t just about surviving the storm; it’s about having the presence of mind to soak in the sun when it finally breaks. When the trail levels out, the fire is crackling, and you’re kicking back with your team, let the armor drop completely. These are the moments we fight for. Soak it in and thank God for the good days.

Tag the crew you’d want around your campfire tonight.

Sometimes the heaviest gear we carry is the uncertainty of where we’re being led.

We’re wired to want the mission briefing. We want the grid coordinates, the objective, and the exact route we need to take. But out here, and in life, God rarely gives us the entire map. Sometimes, He only provides enough light for the next step.
When you’re walking a heavy mile and the storms are rolling in, it is easy to wonder if you’ve been left out in the cold. It’s hard to see the purpose in the pain or the direction in the dark. But true faith isn’t the absence of doubt or the guarantee of an easy trail; it’s the quiet resolve to keep moving forward, trusting that the guide knows the way, even when you don’t. You are never abandoned in the wilderness.
“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.” — St. Augustine
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” — Psalm 119:105

If you are navigating a dark trail right now, keep walking. The dawn is coming. Save this as a reminder for the hard days, or share it with a brother or sister who needs some light on their path today.
Drop a ✝️ or an ⚓ in the comments if you’re trusting the process today.

You survived the fight. You shouldn’t have to survive the peace alone.

The weight of the uniform doesn’t magically disappear the day you hang it up. For veterans, first responders, and their families, the invisible battles of PTSD and moral injury can make everyday life feel incredibly isolating.

At Stag & Cross Outdoors, we are actively breaking that isolation. We know that true recovery doesn’t always happen in a sterile room—it happens shoulder-to-shoulder, out in the wild, and grounded in faith. Whether we’re heading into the mountains for our monthly outdoor excursions or gathering for zero-judgment sacramental peer support, the mission is simple: enduring camaraderie.

If you’re in the Cheyenne area, come pull up a chair with the gang. We meet every week to reconnect, rebuild, and remind each other that while the road to healing is tough, no one has to walk it solo.

Join us this Thursday, and every Thursday, from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM at the Cathedral of Saint Mary (Hartmann Hall Basement).

Save the number on this flyer: 307-414-0861. Text or call if you need us. Please share this post to your story—you never know which brother or sister in your feed is silently waiting for an invitation to heal.

It’s carried between the ears. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but for the veterans and first responders holding the line, this isn’t a 31-day campaign.

It’s a daily, unrelenting fight.
Some days, the memories hit too hard. The silence of civilian life gets too loud, and the instinct is to isolate.

But you don’t let the hard days win. You lace up your boots. You step off the pavement and into the wild. You lean on your buddies when the trail gets too steep to climb alone.

Out here, under a wide-open sky, the noise fades. At Stag and Cross Outdoors, we know the true healing power of a quiet ridge, a campfire, and unbroken brotherhood. Keep climbing. We’re with you.

Drop a ⛰️ in the comments if you’re pushing through a hard day today, or tag a brother or sister who needs to hear this.

We got your back. Let us prove it to you!

04/28/2026

For a while, I was stuck in my own head.

The kind of place where everything gets heavy… where motivation fades and even the things you love feel out of reach.

But this—this is me stepping back in.

Arrow by arrow. Breath by breath.
Not perfect. Not easy. But forward.

Archery has a way of forcing you to be present. To quiet the noise. To focus on what’s right in front of you instead of everything weighing you down.

This isn’t just about getting ready for AFW2 trials next year.
It’s about rebuilding discipline. Finding clarity. Taking care of what’s going on inside—not just performing on the outside.

Some days are still hard.
But I’m not doing it alone anymore.

And that changes everything.

If you’ve been in your head lately, take one step back into something that grounds you—and don’t do it alone.
