WCA is a multi-issue, child advocacy nonprofit that works to ensure that every child in Westchester WE EDUCATE! WE CONNECT! WE ACT!

WCA identifies the needs of Westchester’s children and youth, makes those needs known, and makes sure that they are met. We analyze data, publish information and hold events to educate the public and policy makers about children's needs. We convene and lead conversations to build a shared agenda addressing those needs. We advocate and mobilize parents, youth, and concerned citizens to support effective solutions that improve kids' lives.

Why does “Beyond the Silo” matter?

Children and families don’t experience their needs in separate systems. Education, health care, housing, child care, and social services are all connected. When those systems work together, we can create stronger, more coordinated support for children and families.

That’s the conversation we’ll be having at WCA’s 20th Annual Kathryn Wasserman Davis Advocacy Breakfast on October 20.

Don’t wait until the last minute to make sure you’re ready to vote in the November General Election.

If you’re eligible to vote, voter registration applications must be received by the Westchester County Board of Elections by October 24. If you need to update your name or address, those changes must be received by October 19.

Westchester’s children deserve opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.

As part of our recommendations for the 2027 Westchester County Budget, WCA is calling on the County to maintain funding for Invest in Kids initiatives and other positive youth development programs. These investments create safe, supportive opportunities for young people while strengthening families and communities across Westchester.

Earlier this year, we shared Chapter 1 of our 2026 Data Bulletin, giving an in-depth look at population, demographics, and family economic insecurity across Westchester.

Now, we’re excited to share the completed 2026 Data Bulletin, featuring all four chapters and a broader look at the experiences, challenges, and opportunities facing children and young people across Westchester County.

The full Bulletin explores Population, Demographics & Family Economic Insecurity; Child Care & Early Education; Child Well-Being & Opportunity; and Youth Ages 18–24.

We’re grateful to Project Leads Limarie Cabrera and Brandon Washington and Editing & Design by Tara Framer for their work on this year’s Bulletin. The redesigned online format makes the data more accessible and easier to share and use in presentations, reports, community conversations, and advocacy.

Last week, Westchester Children’s Association hosted a Parent Empowerment Group in Port Chester, bringing together Westchester parents and caregivers for an important conversation about the challenges facing children and families in our community.

We were happy and grateful to be joined by Westchester County Legislator Nancy Barr as parents shared their experiences and discussed issues including affordability, childcare, housing, access to food assistance, the importance of Spanish speaking staff in schools and government offices, and more.

Thank you to all of the parents who joined us, shared their experiences, and helped create space for an open and meaningful conversation. At WCA, we believe listening to parents and families is an important part of understanding what our communities need.
