🚨 A nor’easter is forecast to hit our region this weekend.
White Plains is under hazardous weather and wind advisories through Sunday, with the greatest impact expected tonight through Saturday evening.
We could see sustained winds of 30 mph with strong gusts up to 55 mph. Rain will be steady, with potentially 3” of rain falling over the weekend. Flooding is possible in areas with poor drainage. Power outages are also a concern as strong winds could knock down tree limbs.

Before the rain and strong winds begin, please take precautions:
• Secure any outdoor furniture, decorations and other items, such as patio umbrellas that could be carried by winds.
• Check trees on your property for broken that could come down during the storm. If it is safe to do so, please remove them now.
• Check grates and drains on your property and clean any debris covering them.
• Charge phones and check batteries in flashlights.
🚧 The Department of Public Works is preparing now, monitoring developing conditions and standing by to respond. Crews are preparing payloaders, tractors, chipper truck and log truck for any trees that may fall. Additionally, staff are canvassing the city to clear catch basins in low lying areas, checking outfalls, and making equipment storm-ready.
We ask residents to complete necessary preparations and try to limit travel as much as possible.
Do not drive around barricades or through floodwater. There may be hazards below the surface that you cannot see.
