Being active for 7 years, it still provides thrilling activities in the Southern Westchester community by celebrating certain traditional Filipino festivities. We have been working for our fellow Filipino-Americans to preserve
the Filipino culture and camaraderie, and at the same time to provide the opportunity for our hardworking Kababayans here in the US to divert their attention from work
What is KAPWA
KAPWA is an acronym for KASAMAHAN ng mga Pilipino sa Westchester, ATBP. KAPWA is a registered non-profit organization of the Filipinos and Filipino-American families and individuals whose objectives are:
To foster and strengthen fellowship among its members by promoting and advancing their interests, welfare and well-being. To uphold the Filipino values and preserves the Filipinos culture, heritage and traditions
To empower the members, with various worthwhile programs and activities that are helpful in their assimilation into the main culture body of the U.S.A. to serve the Filipino community and render assistance to members and non-members in their times and crisis, and to victims of the calamities domestically and internationally; grant educational assistance through a scholarship program to improvised but deserving students in the Philippines. The word “Kapwa” actually refers to one’s fellow countryman, a fellow worker, a peer, a companion or an associate who is foremost in the mind of every member, other than himself or herself. KAPWA is the key word int the association’s organizing principles:
“Mahalin ang iyong kapwa tulad ng pagmamahal mo sa iyong sarili. (Love your neighbor as you love yourself)” – Matthew 22:39)”
“Gawin mo sa iyong kapwa ang nais mong gagawin niya sayo. (Golden Rule: Do unto others what you want others do unto you.)”
