✨🎓 From dreams to degrees 🎓✨

From being a scholar to walking across the stage at Columbia University, Sarai’s journey is a true reflection of resilience, leadership, and community. A LUCA Scholar (Class of 2022), LUCA Ambassador, College Success Scholar, and College Coach, she has continued to give back to a community that has supported her from the beginning. Now, she graduates from Columbia University Class of 2026 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Throughout her college journey, Sarai balanced challenging coursework, leadership roles, and community involvement while staying grounded in her identity and drive. Whether mentoring fellow students or spending long nights in engineering labs, she embraced every challenge with determination and heart.

We are beyond proud to celebrate all that Sarai has accomplished, and we cannot wait to see the impact she continues to make.

Where the Journey Begins ✨

Last week, we hosted our Class of 2027 Scholar/Coach Meet & Greet at Westchester Community College, and it was such a special afternoon. 😁

The room was filled with energy, laughter, and excitement as Scholars and Coaches connected through icebreakers, team-building activities, and meaningful conversations. It was incredible to see relationships begin to form in real time.

A huge thank you to our Coaches, returning or new, for everything they do to support our Scholars. Your time, care, and commitment make a real difference in their journey. 💙

LUCA IN THE NEWS! ✍️

Our LUCA scholar Mia Rivera Cabrera was the subject of a beautiful feature story in Westchester Hispano, published on May 22, 2026. 📅 Mia, a first-generation student from Sleepy Hollow High School and the daughter of Ecuadorian immigrants, was accepted to Yale, Princeton, and Cornell, ultimately choosing Yale University 🎓, where she will attend on a full scholarship this fall. 💙

The story captures Mia's extraordinary journey: her family's resilience, her academic excellence, her community service through volunteerism with Tarrytown EMS and Phelps Hospital , and her aspiration to become a pediatric oncologist 🩺 serving underserved communities. LUCA is named in the article as part of the support system that helped make her dream a reality 🌟.

🎓 College graduation season is here!

We’re proud to celebrate LUCA Scholar and Ambassador Guadalupe L., who graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

As she reflects on her journey, Guadalupe shared:

“Without the encouragement of my LUCA community and the unwavering love of my family, achieving this degree would not have been possible. This accomplishment is not only for myself, but for those who came before me and paved the way, as well as those who will come after me and continue striving for success. I carry this degree as a reflection of our shared sacrifices, strength, and perseverance. ¡Sí se pudo!”
