Construction is underway at an affordable housing community in Suffolk County that's being built inclusive for people with disabilities. The project features units specifically for people with developmental disabilities with on-site support services provided by ACDS and funding from OPWDD. It also includes units for people with mobility disabilities and for people with sensory disabilities.

🧩 Autism can be very difficult. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows. Autism has its good days and its bad days.
But I’ve realized being an autism parent or being an autistic person is not the tragedy.
It’s the people that stop and stare.
The ones who judge.
The ones who exclude.
The ones that don’t invite.
The ones with unkind comments.
The ones that couldn’t care less to educate themselves.
The ones that have blatant ignorance.

They are the ones that make this life hard. Not the autism, not the children, but the ones that lack the knowledge and understanding.

My children are not a tragedy.
