ACTION ALERT - The EEOC wants to stop collecting demographic data that proves discrimination exists. In July they proposed a rule to end 60 years of tracking employment by race and gender, eliminating key facts used to win many civil rights cases!

You are invited to a WWA Networking Meet & Greet Thursday, Aug 6th, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, at The Kitchen Restaurant & Bar at Barnes and Noble, 680 White Plains Road in Scarsdale.

July 21 marked how far into the current year the average Black woman must work to earn what the average white, non-Hispanic man earned in the previous year.

In fact, Black women must work until age 81 to catch up to earnings a white man would make by age 60.

In New York, over a 40-year career, Black women stand to lose over $1,000,000 in wages due to the wage gap.

SUPPORT PAY TRANSPARENCY: Support NYS laws that strengthen pay transparency - watch out for CTAs in the upcoming legislative session.

PROTECT EEOC DATA: Urge your federal legislators to protect EEOC's collection of demographic data that helps employees fight workplace discrimination.

Today marks Black Women's Equal Pay Day, a reminder that Black women continue to earn significantly less than many of their peers for the same work. The wage gap doesn't just affect individuals; it impacts families, communities, and our entire economy.

At Westchester Women's Agenda, we believe that building a more equitable and affordable New York starts with policies that support women and working families, including:
• Pay transparency
• Affordable, accessible childcare
• Paid family leave
• Living wages for the human services workforce, a workforce made up primarily of women

When women are paid fairly, families are stronger, children thrive, and communities prosper.

Pride Month may be ending, but our fight for equality continues 365 days a year.

Pride has always been rooted in protest, and we are ready to keep fighting the harmful attacks on the LGBTQ+ community.

We will keep advocating for equal access to healthcare, economic security, and the fundamental right of everyone to live their truth with pride and dignity. 🌈
