We are very pleased to announce HHREC and the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh are working together to support Girl Scout troops and others interested in earning a Holocaust Education Patch in New York and neighboring states, and we will also help participants create an educational display and/or bring a speaker to present to a larger group. We are excited to engage in this new partnership and look forward to supporting Girl Scout Troops and others on this important educational program!

We are so pleased to share the news that Mallory Bubar, PhD has joined HHREC as our Associate Director. Mallory has 15 years of experience in education, museums, and non-profit work, and she has taught German language, culture, and history while earning her Master’s and Doctoral degrees. Please join us as we welcome Mallory to our team, as her experience will help us further connect with educators and our community about the Holocaust, other genocides, and human rights.

We mourn the passing of Lola Margulies, Holocaust Survivor and HHREC Speaker, scientist, educator, humanitarian, and cherished family member, who recently passed away at the age of 96. She shared her amazing story emphasizing the importance of confronting hatred, prejudice, and injustice, and her testimony was featured in the documentary Testimony of the Human Spirit produced by the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center. We applaud the effort of these leaders to come together and make a positive difference in our communities!

Last week, I joined Rivertown’s police chiefs to address rising antisemitic attacks and the increasing use of hate symbols and speech locally, statewide, and nationally. The event was organized by Hastings-On-Hudson Mayor Tom Drake and included thoughtful presentations by Steve Goldberg of the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center and Andrew Grascia, Chief Criminal Investigator for the Westchester County DA. I am eager work with these partners to ensure we foster a community of acceptance, regardless of religion.
