Your Voice Matters: Wolf River State Trail Master Plan (Langlade County)

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has officially opened the public scoping period for the Wolf River State Trail (Langlade County) Master Plan, and public comments are being accepted through July 31, 2026.

This is your opportunity to help shape the future of the trail. We encourage everyone who uses and enjoys the Wolf River State Trail to participate in the planning process by completing the DNR's online survey.

What is this meeting about?

This meeting is NOT where decisions will be made about the future of the trail. Instead, it is an opportunity to:

✅ Learn about the master planning process.
✅ Meet with DNR staff and ask questions.
✅ Share your thoughts about current trail conditions, existing uses, and ideas for the future.

The DNR has indicated that no management or recreational use decisions will be made at this meeting. This is the first step in a multi-phase planning process. Future opportunities for public input will occur when a draft plan and a proposed plan are developed.
We encourage everyone to participate in this process respectfully and professionally.

This master planning process represents a great opportunity and an exciting path forward for the future of the Wolf River State Trail. The goal is to focus on ideas, opportunities, and the future not to place blame.

Please remember that every trail user has a voice in this process. We encourage everyone to participate respectfully.

Let's demonstrate that our recreation community can be engaged, informed, and professional.

Don't forget to submit your comments by July 31, 2026!

Business membership spotlight: River Forest Campground and Rafts. Raft & tube rentals with shuttle for rafting the Wolf River. Spacious campground is located on a beautiful 37 acre wooded park. They have fire pits and picnic tables at every site. Flush toilets, individual tiled showers and a dump station for RV trailers. On-site store handles fire wood, ice, beer & liquor, soda, snacks, souvenirs, as well as basic camping supplies, groceries and ATM. If you need it or forgot it, they probably have it or can get it. They have The Canopy for outdoor music Events throughout the summer.

The campground offers 65 full hook-up sites (water, sewer, and electric). The campsite also offers a separate horse camping area for equestrian visitors. This horse camping area connects directly to the horse trails. Enjoy miles of ATV trails for those camping with ATVs or UTVs. Fishing and snowmobiling provide year-round ways to entertain your family. The homey lounge/restaurant offers a friendly environment, great food, and drinks for your getaway. Many events take place at 9 Mile All Sport Resort, like the Wounded Warriors United Wisconsin ATV/UTV Ride fundraiser.
