We are thrilled to share an inspiring testimony from one of our SOS Beech 4th grade parents, Honey McCloud!

“I would like to share some insight coming from my fourth grader who is currently enrolled in the SOS program this year.

A few things my fourth grader has enjoyed about SOS.

Prayer time:
She loves being able to pray before her lunch and throughout her time at SOS.

Worship:
From day one, She has told me how much she enjoys being able to sing praises and worship God with her friends. Her favorite song is “That’s My King!”

Creative activities:
She has cherished every moment of writing/drawing in her SOS journal, to highlighting verses in her SOS Bible, and playing games in the gym with spiritual foundations.

One day recently, Carlee mentioned on the way home from school, she was on the bus reading her Bible she keeps in her backpack. How encouraging! I fully believe God is working on these kids through the SOS program.

I pray this organization can spread and continue to be a light in our community.”

Thank you, Honey, for your kind words and support!!

We are BACK with another Meet the Team Monday!

Elizabeth (Beth) grew up in Ohio and became a Christian while attending a Baptist church that had a dynamic young teens ministry. Beth graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s in Special Education and later earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Saint Frances University.

Beth, alongside her husband, raised their three children and enjoyed traveling together. Beth taught for 29 years in the public school system in Indiana before retiring and moving to Tennessee to be near her grandchildren.

A friend introduced her to Bible Released Time Education, and she felt SOS! For the Students! was a perfect fit for sharing the character of Jesus with children in a fun, systematic way. Beth believes that teaching kids biblical character will be transformative for their hearts, minds, and souls—strengthening their character with the Bible as their guide.

Welcome to another Meet the Team Monday! Today, we’re excited to introduce Michael Bull, the Vice President of S.O.S! For the Students.

Michael was born in Memphis, TN, and began following Jesus at the age of 12. At 16, he became a bus captain, responsible for organizing the transportation of children to and from church services. That same year, he met his future wife during a missionary trip. Five years later, they married, and he has been holding her hand for the past 47 years. God has blessed them with two sons, of whom they are very proud.

Michael graduated from college with a degree in Music Education and worked as a band director. Later, he spent 29 years as a retail manager at Walmart and other retailers.

When Michael first heard about Released Time Bible Education (RTBE), his reaction was like that of most people: That can’t be legal! However, he soon learned that not only is it legal, but the State of California has had RTBE since 1943 and boasts one of the largest and oldest programs in the nation. Unfortunately, Middle Tennessee is far behind. Michael’s goal is to help S.O.S! For the Students make a positive impact on students’ character and lives through Released Time Bible Education in Tennessee.

For this week’s Meet the Team Monday, we are introducing our Treasurer, Jess Dillon!

Jess made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ more than 50 years ago as a teenager and was an Eagle Scout in Wilmington, Delaware. He has been married to his second wife, Brenda, for 34 years. Their blended family includes six children, one with the Lord, 11 grandkids, and 11 great grandkids.

Jess had spent just over 35 years in sales, sales management, and superstore management with Circuit City and The Tennessean (Gannett) newspaper after ten years of various sales jobs prior. He has been a member of Three Oaks Church for 20 years and has been a very active. Gideon for 17 years. He has been a Treasurer and a Church Board member.

Jess has a heart for children, and sees SOS! For the Students as a unique and powerful way to help bring biblical character, faith and fun to the young lives in middle Tennessee.

Welcome to the first edition of Meet the Team Monday! Today, we are thrilled to introduce the President of SOS! For the Students, Gary Bull.

Gary was born in Memphis, TN, and has lived in the Nashville area for 30 years. Gary has followed Christ since he was 12 years old. He graduated from Williamstown Bible College in West Virginia with a Christian Ministry degree. Gary and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters, a son, and nine grandboys. They have been married 46 years.

Gary was a manager in the industrial uniform industry for 25 years and modular building sales and rental for 8 years. He is now happily retired.

When he first learned about Released Time Bible Education (RTBE) in 2021, he thought there was no way that was true. However, after researching and finding out that RTBE is unquestionably legal, Gary is dedicating his life to spreading the news about RTBE and providing Biblical character instruction to public school students in the middle of the school day. Gary deeply believes the Word of God in our next generation will stop the craziness in our country today.

Teaching Biblical Character Traits Has a Powerful Impact!

Before each school year, the students are encouraged to take a “character test”. This test highlights important character building questions.

Both of our respective classes scored 75% on the pretest. At the end of the program, one class scored a 95.7% and the second class was a 97.5%. From a 75% to nearly perfect scores, it's clear that teaching and fostering these building blocks of character is a powerful piece of shaping these student’s growth.
