Sometimes families are one emergency away from a crisis.

We were contacted about a local family facing an overwhelming electric bill after falling behind during a difficult season. The total balance is currently around $1,100, but the utility company will allow them to enter a payment plan if they can come up with $480.

As many of you know, the Jefferson County Foster Care Coalition believes that prevention matters. Keeping the lights on and helping stabilize families before situations spiral is part of caring for children and supporting our community.

We know times are hard for many people right now, but if anyone would like to help us crowdfund this need, every amount helps.

We are so grateful to Powerhouse Dance and Tumbling for agreeing to help us collect coats and toys for the closet to help families keep warm and have a happy Christmas.

Every child deserves to wake up to a gift on Christmas morning and deserve to be warm all winter long. 🥰

Powerhouse consistently shows up for the community and we are grateful to the studio, the staff, and the grownups of their dancers for thinking of the community and helping in real, tangible ways. 🖤

We are so grateful to White Hall Middle School FBLA for partnering with our Provision Community Care Closet to collect coats for local families!

Their coat drive continues through next week, and students can drop off donations with their 4th period teacher. The class with the most donations will win an ice cream party! 🍦

Happy Giving Tuesday!

Today, we’re asking for your generosity to support the Jefferson County Foster Care Coalition.

First, we have an urgent need for a young adult in extended foster care. She’s joining a program that will provide housing and job skills, but we need about $480 to ensure she’s comfortable until she can move in. This is needed ASAP.

Your donations make our work possible. With no state or federal funding, we rely entirely on community support to keep the lights on at the Care Closet, keep our website live, cover essential operating expenses, and respond to specific needs for children in care and for families working toward stability and prevention.

Every dollar stays right here in our community, primarily in Jefferson County, though we also help our neighbors in DCFS Area 7 and Central Arkansas when we can. As a registered 501c3, all donations are tax-deductible.

In 2024, Arkansas lost 24 children to abuse and neglect - and 9 more in critical condition and almost didn't survive.

These tragic numbers remind us why protecting children must always be a top priority.

Because it shouldn't hurt to be a child.
