Kids Fishing
As a large majority of you already know, the City of White Cloud has been in the media for approx. 15+ months, regarding the removal of our dam.
(Aka Lake White Cloud/Mill Pond).
After the removal of the boards the Lake is now dried up. There is no water, no fish.
Therefore with heavy hearts, and many mixed emotions The Family of Russell H. Gilbert unfortunately have to bring the annual RUSSELL GILBERT KIDS FREE FISHING EVENT to a CLOSE.
We are celebrating this 43rd year with a celebration of memories from the years past. PLEASE join us on:
SATURDAY, JUNE 6th, 2026
From 11:00 am to 2:00 pm

We are asking you to send us a copy of any pictures and/ or memories you may have from one or more of these events you or a family member may have attended.
You may write us a letter with a memory you have from attending one of these events. The more the merrier!
Besides we may, give a prize for the funniest memory or, the cutest memory.
Who knows what we'll come up with.
Just SEND them in.

We will still be having our Free Hot Dog Lunch and will be giving away a lot of prizes. Any leftover money will be put into this year's event.

We also want to take this opportunity to THANK not one, but ALL OF YOU and the generosity of the business that have supported us throughout these 43 years. Please join us on the 1st Saturday in June. So we can have you celebrate with us. We couldn't have done any of this without you. THANKS AGAIN!

Address to mail your memory letter is Diane Patrick 6773 Polk Rd. BIG Rapids Mich 49307. We are hoping to get 100s of memories over the past 42 years. Again our hearts are heavy! We hope to display all memories at the event. Thank you again

We at kids Free Fishing are heartbroken with the ongoing issues with the dam . We've been in contact with the city ,been to all public meetings . The city has a very difficult decision to make . I my opinion saving the dam doesn't look feasible because of costs. Tax issues ect their back is against the wall so to speak. We must support the city with whatever decision they make they do have everyone's interest at heart. Works countless hours on this among other things they have going on to keep the city functioning. The biggest share of us want the dam to stay especially us kids free fishing crew! There were some options mentioned at last nights meeting that could be possible replacements but time is of the essence. .we just need to all pray for guidance to make the right decision for the community's future
