We loved being out in the community for Ironman! 💙 From keeping participants refreshed at our station to cheering them on as they pushed toward the finish line, it was an honor to be part of such an incredible event. Way to go, athletes! 🏃‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏊‍♂️

Here are a few fun stats to recap the way our community showed up this awesome weekend:
⭐️ We had 1470 "shifts" for this event over the course of 3 days.

⭐️ 52 captains taking the lead.

⭐️ We had volunteers from 8 states, AZ, CA, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA and WA!

⭐️ Our oldest volunteer was 91 (and he worked two shifts!), and the youngest who actually signed up was 6 (plenty of babies strapped to moms)!

⭐️ We also had multiple local athletes who competed that worked volunteer shifts both Friday and Saturday!

⭐️ We had 749 unique volunteers cover ALL of those shifts!

We were happy to be a part of it all!

Happy 110 years, NPS! 🎉🏞️

Today is a fee-free day, so get outside, explore, and celebrate our incredible public lands! We’re so grateful to call Whiskeytown home. 💚

We are 110 years old today! The U.S. National Park Service was established by Congress and signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson on August 25, 1916. We oversee the National Park System for your benefit and enjoyment and to protect nationally significant cultural and natural heritage. As you can tell with this photo from our annual paddling volunteers training earlier this summer, we are both proud of and dedicated to our mission. Won't you join us in enjoying and protecting these special places for the next 110?

We just crossed $6 MILLION! 🎉🌲
A remarkable $100,000 investment from the Redding School District has pushed the campaign to rebuild Whiskeytown Environmental School past an exciting milestone.

Even better, this gift represents an investment in local children, outdoor science education and the return of Whiskeytown’s beloved residential program.
