It's almost World Cup time! What a better way to catch the action than to attend a World Cup Watch party! We've partnered with our friends at Wheeling Park to host a viewing party for each of Team USA's round robin matches.

Check out the flier below. There is charge to come hang out and enjoy the game on the big screens, enjoy each other's company, and take part in the festivities: inflatables, international food, face painting, prizes, best spirit wear contest, and more!

LETTER TO OUR MEMBERSHIP

In recent weeks, we were made aware that a new soccer entity was in the process of organizing for the Fall 2026 season. We also heard that some of our current players may be leaving to join that new group, OVFC.

FC Wheeling is a community-based member of the PA West soccer league. Most of our teams play in that league on Sundays because that is the level where our teams are. We encourage our players to play other sports and do other things throughout the year, as we believe that makes them well rounded.

Some of our current members have said that it was explained to them that a couple of Ohio clubs and ours were on board with the idea of discontinuing some of their age group programs in the future beyond the U12 year of soccer. That is grossly inaccurate; we intend on offering a U13/U14 team this coming fall on the boys’ side as well as one on the girls’ side with our tryouts next week. No such discussion with other clubs has taken place.

In the past, we have encouraged some of our players who have demonstrated a higher level of ability and commitment to experience a more competitive environment. We’d like to think that their success in the past is also in small part our success in having helped develop them in their formative soccer years: first, to learn to love the game of soccer; then, to learn how to play the game of soccer. With the vast majority of players in the four Wheeling high school programs having played at FC Wheeling, we are certainly thrilled to witness the recent success of those programs each fall season.

At our core though, we are a Sunday travel club. While the soccer landscape has changed over the last decade, the ideals of proving a good soccer experience to all members - ages 4 through 18 - that founded the club in 1987 are still present today. As we get ready to celebrate our club’s 40th anniversary in 2027, we look forward to another good fall season with our partners in PA West.

However, first things first: let’s get excited for the World Cup that kicks off in just a couple weeks!

OUR SOCCER SENIORS GRADUATE!

We'd like to give a shout out to all of our seniors who graduated this month from their respective high schools!

After Park's graduates walk across the stage today, that makes 7 total high schools where our senior players moved on to the next chapter of their life. Congrats to all!
