We’re excited to welcome Riley Carpenter as our new Director of Enrollment and Family Experience at Wheeling Country Day School!

Riley brings a strong background in both education and community engagement, most recently serving as Director of Programming at Wheeling Heritage and previously spending nearly a decade in the classroom. As a mom of two, she understands just how important it is for families to feel connected, supported, and inspired in their school community.

This summer, you’ll find Riley in the office and out in the community, building relationships and helping more families discover what’s possible at WCDS. Join us in giving her a warm welcome!

Tiny hands, big discoveries. 💛

Our Playgroups littles have been spending their summer exploring, creating, and making new friends through play-based, Reggio Emilia-inspired experiences alongside their families.

Did you know these popular sessions (Gather 2gether and Little Explorers) continue throughout the school year on Fridays? They’re a wonderful introduction to the WCDS community for toddler aged children and are a great way for families to connect.

☀️ What a Week 2 of WCDS Summer Camps! ☀️
Our little campers immersed themselves in the magical worlds of Wicked and Dr. Seuss. Meanwhile our older campers programmed their own robots and created original artworks in Robotics and Imagine Art Camps. Friday welcomed our We Two and Little Explorers campers with extra messy summer fun!

We awarded four more Camper’s of the Week! Check out their proud pictures in this post. The children built clay shops and dams in creek, rode the soapy waterslide and enjoyed popsicles to end each hot day!

Week three we will welcome Disney lovers, Creative “Not a Box” kiddos, Tie-Dye enthusiasts, and Sports Spectacular athletes. See you next week! 💙💛

☀️What a fantastic start to WCDS Summer Camps!☀️The beautiful weather was on our side as Week One filled our campus with Barbies, Zombies, Gamers, & Treasure Hunters. We even kicked off to our We Two and Little Explorers program!

Our “Campers of the Week” tradition continues this year as we celebrate kiddos who show kindness, curiosity, and enthusiasm! Congratulations to this week’s winners! 🥳

8 more weeks of summer fun ahead of us and we couldn’t be prouder of our summer camp team for caring for all the community kiddos that step onto our campus! Let’s do this! 💙💛

☀️ Summer camps are off to a fantastic start at Wheeling Country Day School, and there’s still time to join the fun!

Only 6 spots remain in Seussical Summer Camp for children in JK–2nd Grade. Inspired by the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss, this camp is packed with imagination, storytelling, creativity, and fun.

We also have openings in Imagine Art Camp for students in 2nd–6th Grade who love to create, design, and explore their artistic talents.

5th Grade Promotion is always a special moment at WCDS and this year was no different. We celebrated the accomplishments of 14 energetic, curious, bright young leaders and we are so eager to watch them soar into Middle School.

A highlight of the day was watching our graduates be individually recognized for their strengths. Awards were given for outstanding performance in different subject areas and for making improvement throughout the year. The Wheeling Country Day School award was renamed the “Bridget Rutherford Wheeling Country Day School Award” and was given to Palmer Wolle as both Bridget and Palmer embody what WCDS truly stands for.

Every student gave an engaging speech about something they learned, experienced, or overcame this school year.

Field Day 2026 is in the books…and a special one it was. Mr. White poured his heart into planning this day for our students and it truly showed. We loved having alumni and families back on campus to enjoy the festivities.

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. As a school community, we pause in gratitude for their courage, reflect on the freedoms we enjoy, and honor the legacy they leave behind.
