Last year, our dedicated employees and volunteers helped us grow, harvest, and give away more than 1,250 pounds of fresh produce to those in need.

Your time in the garden means more than tending plants. It means nourishing a community. Join us in creating something meaningful at 37 South Broadway Street in Wheeling.

Volunteers are needed to work in the garden on WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY mornings. If you are interested, please contact us (304-232-4810) or fill out the form at https://seeinghandassociation.com/volunteer/.

At The Seeing Hand Association, we believe in the power of prevention and the importance of regular eye care.

This May, we’re spreading the word about how you can protect your vision and keep your eyes healthy for years to come!

Here are some simple yet powerful tips to keep your eyes in top shape.

✔️Get a dilated eye exam
Even if your vision seems fine, a comprehensive eye exam can detect problems early, before symptoms appear.

✔️Eat eye-healthy foods
Leafy greens, carrots, citrus fruits, and omega-3 rich fish (like salmon and tuna) are great for your eyes.

✔️Wear sunglasses
Protect your eyes from harmful UV rays by wearing sunglasses that block 99% to 100% of UVA and UVB radiation.

✔️Rest your eyes
Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to reduce digital eye strain.

✔️Avoid smoking
Smoking increases the risk of age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, and optic nerve damage.

✔️Keep your eyes clean and safe
Wash your hands before touching your eyes, and wear protective eyewear when doing activities that could cause injury.
