Another HMSE success story!

We're excited to see our friends at SMART Local 33 Wheeling District JATC in West Virginia making headlines as students turned a week of hands-on learning into real career opportunities. Even better? Eight campers have been accepted into the apprenticeship program, with another small handful getting started in the production shop!

This is what HMSE is all about: opening doors and connecting young people with rewarding careers in the skilled trades. 👏

Fun fact: Local 33 is also the home local of Sheet Metal Air Rail and Transportation Workers General President Mike Coleman, making this first-year HMSE camp even more special!

🔨⚙️ Building Futures!⚙️🔨

This week, local and regional high school students are stepping into the world of skilled trades through the Heavy Metal Summer Experience at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 Wheeling District Joint Apprenticeship and Training Center.

Through hands-on learning, students are exploring sheet metal fabrication, welding, workplace safety, and other essential trade skills while working alongside experienced professionals and mentors. The program provides a firsthand look at rewarding career opportunities in the skilled trades and the benefits of apprenticeship programs that offer paid training, valuable certifications, and long-term career growth.

The future workforce is being shaped right here in our community, and these young people are gaining the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to build successful careers.
