Dignity4Girls

Dignity4Girls We support women and girls worldwide by addressing issues that keep them from reaching their full potential.

We provide menstrual solutions, anti-FGM/C education, schooling assistance, and encouragement for young single mothers. Dignity for Girls began a few years ago when several women became aware of the dire need for reusable feminine hygiene pads in developing countries. It was discovered that girls were missing an average of 4 days of school a month because they had nothing to use during their peri

od. With established contacts in Kenya, these women desired to sew pads to send to the girls in need in Kenya. With the use of a pattern found online, at Daysforgirls.org, these ladies have been inspiring individuals and groups to sew the needed pads and assemble hygiene kits, which also contain underwear and soap for the girls. After two years of receiving our pads it has been noted by school staff that school attendance for the girls has increase and the drop out rate has decreased! An unexpected effect has also been that there are fewer adolescent pregnancies, because the girls were providing feminine "favors" for money to buy pads. Please message us if you would like to participate in this powerful ministry! There may even be a group of ladies already sewing in your area and/or you can sew on your own time. To date, with the help of Orphan Grain Train for shipping, we have sent over 2,000 kits to girls in Kenya! But the need is still so great that many more are requesting kits. Whether you are a sewer or not- you can help make a difference!

Help Sew Pads and Collect Hygiene Supplies!

Without a solution for menstruation, at-risk girls in sub-Saharan Africa miss up to 5 days of school a month.

A reliable washable pad provides a sustainable solution- and it is our goal to teach them to make it for themselves. BUT we need US-made sample pads to send so they can try it first.

You Can:
• Sew Pads for Missions
• Collect Underwear
• Donate Supplies

May 28th is World Menstrual Health Day

Lack of access to menstrual products in developing countries often excludes girls from school, community activities, and even their own families. Period stigmatization and shame can cause girls to fall behind in school, lead to depression, expose girls to sexual exploitation, or even su***de.

D4G addresses menstrual barriers in three ways: giving access to high-quality, washable menstrual pads; establishing international sewing enterprises; and providing menstrual health education. Join D4G and support our‘Rise Up, Spring Forward’ campaign for menstrual equity to enable girls and women to spring forward past menstrual barriers.

May 28th is World Menstrual Health Day and D4G is excited to announce the launch of our ‘Rise Up, Spring Forward’ fund drive enabling girls and women to spring forward past gender-based barriers. A significant barrier to girls in developing countries worldwide is a lack of access to menstrual supplies and education. Menstruation is often shrouded in shame and silence, excluding girls from school, community activities, and even their own families. Period stigmatization and shame can cause girls to fall behind in school, lead to depression, expose girls to sexual exploitation, or even su***de.

Our ‘Rise Up, Spring Forward’ campaign aims to addresses menstrual barriers in three ways: giving access to high-quality, washable menstrual pads; establishing international sewing enterprises; and providing menstrual health education. Our goal is to raise funds to support the establishment of new sewing enterprises, along with a series of menstrual health workshops, and providing kits containing essential washable sanitary pads, underwear, and soap to at least 150 girls in Kisii, Kenya.

On , D4G is thankful for the borehole in Grace Community Center in Kisii, Kenya. The borehole dispenses fresh drinking for the local community, and provides irrigation to the greenhouse. Safe access to clean water is essential in keeping women and girls safe from dangerous situations. D4G advocates for the sustainable management of freshwater resources and we support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

Today, we ache for the people around the globe who are vulnerable and suffering due to USAID freezes. Our partners tell us about how fear fills communities as clinics close and put lives at risk. Although the government speaks of waivers, we have heard that work has been blocked due to funds not being released, a lack of returning staff, or they are reliant on other organizations who have not resumed yet. People are truly suffering due to this chaotic implementation. Our own Grace Community Center in Kenya has a staff member and son who are in dire need of HIV medication that has been halted.
This article from Christianity Today shares the effects this unprecedented distruption is having on our Christian brothers and sisters who serve and are served through the many NGOs that now struggle. Please lift this situtaion up in prayer!
