Jack Kicks Cancer

Jack Kicks Cancer One Day. One Game. One Fight. Jack Blake was a coach to some, but an inspiration to all. Just recently Jack was inducted into the St. Louis Hall of Fame.

Being involved with the sport from an early age led Jack to numerous achievements, such as nomination as an All-American captain of a Division 1 National Champion, National team player in the Pan American games of 1971, and a Hall of Fame induction at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in the fall of 2006. After moving to Wheaton with his family, it wasn’t long before Jack made a name for

himself among the youth soccer community. His endless time, patience, and dedication for teaching kids about the game of soccer left a lasting impression on us all. Inspired by Jack’s devotion to the game of soccer, a field was dedicated in his honor at Seven Gables Park to recognize his tireless service. Sadly, Jack’s career came to a screeching halt when he was diagnosed with cancer in the winter of 1996. After a very brief, but hard fought battle with the disease, Jack passed away May 4, 1997. He is survived by his wife Bev, and his kids, Jack, Tim and Meghan, on top of the endless amounts of lives that he touched during his time as a father and coach.

One Fight.

This is where we draw the line.  This is where we tell cancer we’ve had enough.  We celebrate those who’ve beat cancer. Honor those we’ve lost. But in the end, we fight like hell  for a world where cancer doesn’t have the final say. Join us on June 18 for one day where you don't have to fight alone....
