Thomas “Tex” Tracy, 76, of Carol Stream, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Tex was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served two tours in Vietnam and was a two-time recipient of the Purple Heart. He dedicated much of his life to supporting fellow veterans and serving his community with unwavering commitment.
He was a longtime member of Wheaton VFW Post 2164, where he held numerous leadership roles over the years, including serving as Commander in 2015. Even in recent years, Tex remained actively involved with the Post and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Tex was also a devoted member of Wheaton Elks Lodge 2258 for more than 20 years. During his time with the Elks, he held many leadership positions and was proudly serving as the District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler for the North District of Illinois at the time of his passing.
He especially cherished the time he spent helping veterans and giving back to the community he cared for so deeply. His dedication, generosity, leadership, and friendship will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Durante Funeral Group.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wheaton Elks Lodge 2258 and Wheaton VFW Post 2164 on Saturday, April 25 starting at the Wheaton Elks Lodge at 11 am before moving over to Wheaton VFW 2164.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wheaton Elks Lodge 2258 to assist with final arrangements. Checks may be made payable to Wheaton Elks and mailed to 0N772 Papworth St., Wheaton, IL 60187, or sent via Zelle to [email protected].
