307 Livestock Show Clinic!

Meet your sheep clinician: Georgia Younglove πŸ‘

Dr. Georgia Younglove grew up raising and showing sheep and has remained deeply involved in the industry ever since. After graduating from college, she and her sister founded SPY Club Lambs for their young daughters. What began as a project to raise county fair lambs soon developed into a successful career in the sheep show industry.

Alongside her family, Dr. Younglove has exhibited sheep at every level of competition, including prestigious national shows such as NAILE and the National Western Stock Show in Denver. She also spent over 10 years coaching the livestock judging and show teams at Eastern Wyoming College, with a primary focus on sheep and goats.

Dr. Younglove has conducted and assisted with numerous showmanship clinics throughout eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska and is passionate about helping young exhibitors build confidence, skills, and success in the show ring. πŸ’š

We are so LUCKY & PROUD to have Georgia be our clinician for this year's 307 sheep series of our clinic! πŸ€She will kick off the sheep clinic on June 11th at 8 am so get registered today: https://forms.gle/ABaRQt9kUAnAu27QA

307 Show Clinic Series:

Meet your Beef Clinician: Emmitt MeyringπŸ‚

Emmitt grew up in northern Colorado where he showed cattle and raised show steers as well as commercial cattle. After graduating high school, he attended Hutchinson community college where he was on the livestock judging team and then transferred to Texas A&M where he finished his livestock judging career. He now runs purebred Hereford cows of his own, is the herdsman of Ward livestock, and runs Meyring Livestock Services. Meyring livestock services is a multi-faceted business specializing in livestock sales, of both show steers and heifers, as well as seedstock, and provides services including clipping, fitting, torching, breeding and custom management. 😎

We could not be more grateful to have Emmitt lead our beef section of the 307 livestock show series clinic. He not only grew up in the industry but lives it to this day, has judged cattle and knows the trends, and wants our youth to be just as successful as he is! πŸ€ Beef clinic will be on June 10th so register here: https://forms.gle/eDCeVkmi7MjJCbVE6

As a perk, his good friend Garrett from Classic Cattle Company will be attending as well to clip cattle hooves that afternoon starting at 3 pm. It is $75/hd paid directly to him but another opportunity for 4-H'ers and FFA youth to take advantage of!

307 Show Clinic: Meet your Swine Clinician πŸ–~ Traylea Foland

Traylea will be a junior at Tarleton State University this fall, studying animal science with an end goal of becoming a veterinarian! Her main focus will be large animals as well as animal chiropractic's especially in show animals. She showed pigs for 10 years including exhibiting at her local county fair, WY state fair and even had the privilege to show at the National Western Stock Show in 2025. She has had the privilege of representing Platte County at state fair in FFA swine showmanship numerous times as well as winning a variety of banners at the state and county levels. Her expertise in the newer swine show trends and what judges appreciate will be very valuable in this clinic and we are grateful to have her! πŸ’š

Traylea's Assistant Clinician is Drew Smialek. 🐷

Drew is from Glendo Wyoming and is a 5th generation farmer and rancher. He just graduated from Casper College where he earned his degrees in Ag Business and Animal Science. He is back now working on the family operation with his dad. Drew showed pigs and cattle his whole life and was able to assist in exhibiting show pigs at the National Western stock show when he was 9 and 10 years old. He's had the privilege to represent Platte County for FFA swine showmanship when he was a senior and has been blessed to take home many banners from county fair. Drew has a great passion for agriculture, and he believes that there’s no better thing for kids than to be involved in 4-H. πŸ€

We could not be more grateful than to have these two young agriculturists and swine gurus to lead our swine series for our 307 livestock show clinic. Swine will be June 9th! Please register today: https://forms.gle/fnZdMvuFGR5k2d686

Faces of the Fair 😎
Meet your Round Robin Superintendent: Matthew Johnson πŸ‚πŸπŸ‘πŸ–

Matthew is a fifth generation Platte County resident who grew up participating in 4-H. From there he continued his involvement in agriculture through college level programs and activities. Him and his wife Kahla enjoy raising their children in the same community and ag environment that shaped their very own lives. 4-H had a tremendous impact on him growing up and he is now grateful for the opportunity to give back through the county program. He enjoys helping current members grow, succeed, and develop the same values and experiences that meant so much to him. πŸ€

Round robin is one of the supreme honors to compete in at fair, where the best showmen of each species get to compete against one another. We are honored to have Matthew oversee this program in fair and are grateful for his commitment, passion, and willingness to oversee round robin as it is a renowned competition in fair. Thank you for all that you do and continue to do for Platte County 4-H'ers. πŸ’š
