This Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community while recognizing the challenges many young people continue to face.

According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. Access to housing, support, and community can make a meaningful difference for young adults navigating these challenges.

Through our homelessness programs, Family Tree works alongside individuals and families experiencing housing instability, helping connect them to resources and pathways forward. This Pride Month, we honor the resilience of LGBTQ+ youth and reaffirm our commitment to supporting our community.

Happy Anniversary, Family Tree!

Today, June 10th, marks the founding of Family Tree in 1976. Originally established in Jefferson County to fill service gaps for individuals affected by child abuse and domestic violence, Family Tree expanded into homelessness services in 1989.

Over the years, Family Tree has grown to include Women in Crisis (now Roots of Courage, 1977), House of Hope (2001), Generational Opportunities to Achieve Long-term Success (GOALS, 2019), and Marshall Street Landing (2025).

Today, Family Tree serves the seven-county metro area. In the last fiscal year alone, we provided direct services to 6,465 individuals, including more than 2,600 children. We responded to 14,208 crisis and helpline calls and provided 28,749 nights of safe shelter for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
